Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurel Booth.
Hi Laurel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist and nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience providing healthcare to individuals of all ages and health.
In 2019, I furthered my education by obtaining a doctorate in nursing focusing on burnout within the advanced practice nursing community. During my research, I recognized that I was burnt out as well and needed to make change.
In 2023, I founded, Mrs. Webb Aesthetic, a business that provides medical aesthetic (cosmetic) services including anti-aging treatments such as dermal filler and neuromodulator therapy. I found aesthetics to be the perfect field to combine my love for artistry, innovation, and symmetry while simultaneously drawing on the technical savvy and anatomical knowledge I have honed as an anesthesia provider.
My purpose is to advocate for your health and well-being. I wants you to achieve your goals safely and wants to ensure that you are received in the way you envisage. I wants to meet you where you are; mentally and emotionally.
My mission at Mrs. Webb Aesthetic, is to improve access and knowledge of aesthetic ideology as well as enhance the client experience within the culturally and ethnically diverse community we serve.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yep. It has been a smooth road. I listened to my parents. Went to school. I got good grades and entered the career that I always said I wanted. But, I still felt unfulfilled. I have always been independent but for most of my life, I have worked for someone else. Being a business owner is the first time that I have been, “on my own” and doing things, “my way”. Doing things, “my way” is where I encountered struggles, that I ultimately learn from and made me a better business owner, clinician, and human being.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist and nurse practitioner. In 2023, I realized that I wanted to spend less time in the Operating Room, and formed an aesthetics practice. I offer regenerative skin and wellness treatments. What makes my practice different is the years I have spent in the operating room administering anesthesia. I have enhanced knowledge of head and neck anatomy and I am skilled with the use of ultrasound, and needle work. All 3 skills, set me apart from most providers within the aesthetic space. I entered into this space after giving birth to my first child. I was unhappy with how my face had changed. After receiving treatment, I fell in love and wanted more people within the black and brown community to know that they too can get these treatments. I want to provide access to people that have been unacknowledged within this space
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Plan well and lean on your network. Every person you meet is a possible connection in the future, so do not discount anyone.
