Today we’d like to introduce you to Lara Frazier.
Hi Lara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My mom enrolled me in dance classes when I was three years old like so many moms do. I stuck with it for much longer than a lot of girls my age. My mom saw how much I was enjoying it and enrolled me in theatre classes, and I’m sure she is still regretting it because there was no going back at that point. It was pretty clear that performing in front of an audience was where I felt the most comfortable and at home. It was definitely where I was happiest. I did theatre all the way into college then started working at Disneyland as a Jungle Cruise skipper. I had a lot of fun, but after my father passed away, it got harder and harder to put a smile on my face for eight hours straight five days a week. I was watching GLOW on Netflix with some friends of mine one night, and I was so drawn into the storytelling and theatrics that went into professional wrestling. So I moved back to the Bay Area and began training. It is definitely the hardest thing I have ever done, but it has also been the most fulfilling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Before I could even debut, COVID happened and that has been obviously awful for the entire world in more ways than one. I also got a neck injury shortly after things started opening back up again. Since I’ve started training for wrestling, I filed two police reports and have had countless weirdos cyberstalking me. My house burned down. My car got broken into. A few people who were close to me have passed away. Life is pretty tough, especially right now, for a lot of people. Thankfully, I am what some nice people would label as “determined” and what less nice people would call “stubborn,” so I just keep going.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional wrestler. I go on adventures to wrestling rings and kick people. I am currently most proud of the work I have been doing for Hoodslam and Full Queer. What sets me apart is my energy. I’m not sure how to explain it, but people keep saying they like it.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a theatre kid. I studied ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and many other styles of dance. I went to a lot of rock concerts. I loved karaoke. Still do. I was a little bit more of an open book than I am now. I was extremely outspoken. Now I’m a lot more selective with what I share with people. I still have very firm stances on things, I’m just not as willing to share as I used to be.
