Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Keller.
Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
If you met me five years ago, you probably wouldn’t recognize me. I wasn’t a positive person—not even close. I was extremely negative, constantly belittling not only myself but also the people around me. I had this deep-rooted belief that my job was the end-all, be-all, and that was just how life was supposed to be—stressful, limiting, and unfulfilling.
That perspective stuck with me until one work retreat, when someone bluntly told me that if I stayed this small, this negative, I was going to live a really miserable life.
That one comment hit me harder than I expected. It forced me to take a step back and ask myself: Is this really who I want to be?
That moment was the catalyst for everything that followed. It made me realize that I was capable of change, growth, and something bigger than the small, self-destructive mindset I had trapped myself in.
Over the last five years, I’ve done the work—healing, learning, and stepping into the person I was always meant to be.
Now, I’m here, sharing that journey with you on Raising Serotonin, because I know what it feels like to be stuck, to feel like you’re just existing instead of truly living. But I also know that it only takes one shift, one decision, to start rewriting your story. And if I can do it, so can you.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. It’s been bumpy, messy, and filled with moments where I questioned if I was even making progress. Growth isn’t linear, and for me, it’s taken years of therapy, unlearning toxic patterns, and learning how to truly slow down and see the beauty in life instead of constantly rushing through it.
One of the hardest parts was breaking the cycle of negativity I had been stuck in for so long. It wasn’t just about changing my mindset—it was about undoing years of self-doubt, breaking free from the belief that I wasn’t meant for more, and challenging the habits that kept me small.
Slowing down was another struggle. I used to think that being busy meant being successful, but I learned the hard way that burnout isn’t a badge of honor. I had to completely shift my way of thinking, prioritize my mental health, and give myself permission to rest without guilt.
But through it all, every setback, every moment of discomfort, was leading me here—to a life that feels lighter, more intentional, and actually mine. And that’s why I share my journey—because I know I’m not the only one who has had to fight to find peace, purpose, and serotonin along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Raising Serotonin started as a podcast rooted in my personal experiences—sharing my journey of unlearning negativity, prioritizing my mental health, and making real changes in my life. But as I’ve grown, so has the podcast. Now, it’s evolving into a space where I not only share my story but also provide practical, lifestyle-focused ways to improve wellness and mental health.
What sets Raising Serotonin apart is that it’s real, relatable, and ever-evolving. I’m not just speaking from past experiences—I’m actively learning, growing, and applying what I’m studying as I work toward my master’s in mental health counseling. This shift allows me to bring a mix of personal insight and research-backed strategies to help others take control of their well-being in a way that feels attainable.
What I’m most proud of is the impact Raising Serotonin has had—not just on me, but on the people who listen. It’s incredible to hear from others who resonate with my story and use what they’ve learned from the podcast to make real changes in their own lives. At the end of the day, my goal is to help people feel better, think better, and live better, one small shift at a time.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality that has led to my success is self-awareness—the ability to recognize when I need to change, grow, or shift my mindset. Without that, I wouldn’t have been able to unlearn the negativity that held me back for so long.
Along with self-awareness, resilience has been key. The road hasn’t been easy, and there have been plenty of moments where I wanted to quit. But pushing through discomfort, staying committed to my growth, and learning from setbacks instead of letting them define me has made all the difference.
Lastly, authenticity is at the core of everything I do. I don’t pretend to have it all figured out, and I think that’s what makes Raising Serotonin resonate with people. I show up as I am—imperfect, honest, and always evolving—which helps others feel safe to do the same in their own lives.
