Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Peck.
Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started wreath making as a hobby when I was healing from ankle reconstruction surgery, I needed an outlet that kept me busy but also could do while sitting with my ankle propped up. After I was pretty well healed from surgery and I was walking again with help of a surgical boot I had to wear, I learned that I really enjoyed the wreath making and continued. After a few months I had friends and family asking me to make them wreaths for the upcoming holidays. After some time I had a good friend that was hosting an online vendor event type thing and asked if I wanted to take part with my wreaths and I was like sure! Why Not?? So I came up with a name and it was not Created Haven at this time.
Fast forward to now, I have learned quite a bit about about wreath making and selling and creating an online presence. I have taught myself how to make a few more things now as well and not limited to just wreaths and floral arrangements, I now offer custom signs & door hangers. I am always looking for ways to grow and learn ways to better my craft.
This coming year I am looking to grow more and teach others what knowledge and tricks I know about wreath making and crafting. I am so excited to see where this year leads me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish I could say it has been easy but it hasn’t, life has thrown some curve balls my way quite a few times. I have had some health scares and been hospitalized, but the biggest challenges that I have ever had in my 37 years on this planet was in July 2022 when my late husband was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to work, secondly was this past November (2024) I lost my dad, my hero and my biggest cheerleader. So I am still on the path of healing my past scars and juggling life as a mom and small business owner. But I will say I was blessed with some amazing friends that have been there through the good and the bad and the absolute ugly and hold no judgement on me and that is the biggest thing I take away from my experiences so far, Is to know who truly loves you and wants the best for you when they have nothing to gain from it but other then being your friend.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I make floral wreaths and arrangements, recently I have added door hangers and custom made signs to my creations. My floral wreaths are what I am known for mainly, I have dabbled in other crafty things and I am always looking to learn. I cant say there is a particular design or project I am most proud of, there is quite a few of them ha-ha.
I think what sets me a part from others is my creative mindset and by that I mean, I can see a sign or a flower while out shopping and I immediately see in my head what type of wreath or arrangement I could turn that into, then my OCD will take over and I wont be happy with that project until it looks the way I envision it in my head. Often times I feel like my creative mind thrives on chaos because when I am going through something emotionally hard or I am stressed out about something, that is when I have made some of my best wreaths or arrangements.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I have mixed feelings about Covid-19, I know many people died from it. I myself lost a family member from covid, but I also feel politics was heavily involved.
