We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alessia Di Cecco. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alessia below.
Alright, Alessia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
In 2013 I made the decision to leave behind my corporate job one that I had spent many years building and was my north star. I realized I could no longer keep up with the pressure of career, motherhood, and caregiving. Battling severe stress and anxiety, I found myself unable to eat even a banana at my desk. That wake-up call led me to redefine success, build a new relationship with self-care, and launch Sweet Tavolo—a small bakery that reminded me of the joy in slowing down and the power of saying “no.” Now, I use my journey to help others do the same.

Alessia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Alessia Di Cecco is a dynamic speaker, accomplished leader, and passionate advocate for women in leadership. Alessia has been a competitor all her life, something about winning gold at Junior Olympics. Her love for teamwork started at a very young age. With over 20 years of experience she has built her career on fostering strong human connections, helping teams achieve peak performance and growing sustainable businesses. In her current role as Strategic Growth Account Director at Cineplex Digital Media, Alessia leads Canada’s largest digital out-of-home media network which achieves multimillion-dollar yearly sales.
Known for her approachable style and genuine care for others, Alessia inspires those around her to see what’s possible through teamwork and creativity. Whether mentoring a team, leading a project, or exploring new opportunities, she brings a warm, collaborative energy to everything she does.
Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to launch Sweet Tavolo, a baking business she started during her time at home with her kids. What began as a passion project quickly grew into a way to bring people together and celebrate life’s special moments.
Outside of work, Alessia is a devoted mom, curious learner, and avid home cook who finds joy in sharing meals and creating memories with family and friends.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to unlearn was how to not be busy all the time. I have always wanted to be busy doing things, being able to do many things at one time meant to me that I was healthy and productive. I can’t remember when or how this started but it’s been a part of me forever. In 2013 I was juggling my work life which required me to travel to the US weekly, my son who was 1 year old and my father had just been re-diagnosed with cancer. I simply couldn’t get everything done, for the first time I hit a wall and had to stop. Unlearning this habit of being busy all the time and sitting in the silence has changed the trajectory of my life.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I believe in the power of human connections and networking. Keeping your personal network engaged in what it is that you are doing allows for them to support your work. I like to use questions like what are they working on, how I can support their business and what are things that they are struggling to solve, using this these types of questions allow for open and honest conversations. The best source of new clients for me come from my personal network, a recommendation from a past client or friend is the best way to connect authentically with clients who might need my expertise.
