Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Janie Terrazas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Janie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
“One of the most powerful pieces of advice I’ve ever given a client was this: ‘If both hearts are still in it, then there’s a way through it. But the way forward requires radical honesty, deep humility, and mutual accountability. Repair is possible—but only if you’re willing to meet at the root, not just manage the weeds.’
I offered this to a couple I worked with who were on the brink of divorce after a devastating betrayal. The wife had opened her heart and home to a young woman who started working at her husband’s company. She took her in like a little sister during a rough time in her life, only to later discover that this woman and her husband had an affair—in their home.
As you can imagine, the pain cut on every level: betrayal from her husband, betrayal from the woman she supported, and betrayal of the life and family she had built over 15 years with her high school sweetheart. Her world imploded.
The husband, riddled with shame and terrified of losing his family, knew he had crossed a line he could never uncross. And yet, beneath the rubble, both of them were willing to do the work—the real, raw, root work.
What many people don’t understand is that betrayal trauma isn’t just about infidelity. It awakens all five of the deepest soul wounds: abandonment, rejection, humiliation, betrayal, and injustice. It fractures a person’s sense of safety, self-worth, and reality. And to heal it, you can’t bypass the pain. You have to sit in it together and learn how to see it all clearly—what led to it, what it broke, and what needs to be rebuilt.
They committed to a long journey of self and relational repair. We integrated various healing modalities, from mindfulness practices and trauma-informed somatic work to couple’s therapy and honest communication tools. He had to learn how to hold sacred space each time her pain arose—without defensiveness, without rushing her healing. That kind of steady, safe presence is what slowly rebuilt trust.
I reminded them often that “it takes two to tango” is more than a saying—it’s a sacred truth in relationships. Both partners must be all in—not just in word, but in aligned action.
Together, they created new agreements. They learned how to be real with each other, to own their shadows, to lovingly challenge the limiting beliefs and unresolved wounds that silently undermined their connection long before the affair.
And they made it through. It’s been over 10 years since that chapter. Their love is different now—it’s deeper, more authentic, and rooted in truth, resilience, and mutual respect. They turned their deepest mess into their most powerful message. That’s what this work is about. That’s what’s possible when we choose to heal with open eyes and willing hearts.”

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Thank you for this opportunity to share my heart and my work. I am the founder of PazMesa, a Self Mastery Program and the creator of the RiseAboveTV channel where the aim is to provide mindful cotent for optimal living and loving. I’m a certified mindfulness and relationship coach, an inspirational speaker, and a passionate advocate for holistic healing, spiritual evolution, and emotional freedom.
My journey into this work began with my own deep unraveling. I experienced a “dark night of the soul” after a painful divorce that also dissolved a business partnership. That intense life disruption forced me to confront buried traumas, subconscious programming, and limiting beliefs that were quietly sabotaging my health, happiness, and relationships. I immersed myself in healing and transformational work—spanning mindfulness, meditation, somatic therapy, trauma-informed practices, and spiritual exploration. Every modality I’ve studied or experienced personally has informed the framework I now offer others.
My mission is to help people mindfully master the art of mindful living and unconditional loving, starting with the most vital relationship we’ll ever have: the one with ourselves.
The word PazMesa is a blend of two powerful roots—“paz”, which means peace in Spanish, and “mesa”, which in Greek translates to within. Together, PazMesa symbolizes “peace within,” and represents an all-encompassing philosophy for living authentically, intentionally, optimally, and prosperously—in mind, body, heart, and soul.
Through my PazMesa Self Mastery Program, I guide individuals and couples through an inner alchemical process—what I like to call turning our inner iron into gold. PazMesa is more than a method; it’s a philosophy and a way of being. It empowers people to heal their traumas, regulate stress, break free from cycles of self-sabotaging protective mechanisms, codependency, and pain-driven identities, so they can align with their realest self and access inner peace.
The cornerstone of my work lies in emotional intelligence, self-awareness, self-regulation and relational healing. I help my clients rise above fear-based operating systems and awaken their soul-led, heart-centered selves. My services range from 1-on-1 coaching and group classes, to corporate wellness workshops and community healing circles. I also provide courses, retreats, guided meditations, and content through my personal youtube channel and RiseAboveTV to make personal growth and mindfulness accessible and relatable.
What sets me apart is my ability to weave science and spirit, logic and love, practicality and playfulness. I don’t just talk about healing and transformation—I embody it. I’ve walked through fire and found my way to peace, and now I help others do the same with compassion, clarity, and courage. My clients often tell me that working with me feels like coming home to themselves.
What I’m most proud of is the real transformation I witness in the lives of those I support. I’ve seen marriages on the brink of divorce become deeply renewed. I’ve watched people recover their power, voice, and joy after years of disconnection and emotional numbness. I’ve held space for people to grieve, release shame, reclaim their worth, and begin again—with love.
The core of my message is this:
If we want to see peace in the world, we must become the peace. Before that can become a reality, we must know what disconnected us from our inner safety and peace in the first place.
That starts with mastering our inner landscape—our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and nervous system. It means choosing mindfulness over reactivity, compassion over control, and truth over illusion. Healing the world begins with healing the self. And when we create that inner PazMesa—we naturally bring that energy into our relationships, families, communities, and beyond.
To anyone who is ready to rise above their old patterns and step into their true essence—know this: you are not broken, you are becoming. And I’m here to walk with you as you remember and rediscover your personal power, your purposefulness, and your inner peace.”

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been building real relationships and treating each client as a sacred soul—not just a number or a transaction. I don’t operate in a cookie-cutter way. My approach is deeply intuitive, personalized, and rooted in sincere care, compassion, and non-judgment. People can sense my heart. They feel the safe space I hold for them, and that’s what resonates most.
I believe in walking alongside my clients, not in front of them. I’m open about my own trials, tribulations, dark nights, and breakthroughs. I may be the coach or teacher, but I always remind them that I’m a student too—this is tandem healing. We are growing, learning, and evolving together.
What sets me apart is my humility, humor, and ability to bring lightness to heavy moments. Transformation doesn’t have to be all seriousness and structure—it can be playful, soulful, and even joyful, even when it’s messy. I don’t show up as someone with all the answers. Instead, I help clients reconnect with the truth that the answers they seek already live inside them. My role is to help them clear the blocks, rewire their beliefs, and courageously face the uncomfortable truths that are keeping them from the peace and freedom they long for.
I guide them to become wise feelers and conscious discerners of their inner landscape—to meet grief, setbacks, and life’s inevitable storms with resilience and mindfulness. That’s the essence of the work I do.
A large portion of my clients come from referrals, which tells me that the experience I offer leaves a lasting imprint. I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea—but for those who feel aligned, the impact is deep, lasting, and life-affirming.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
To be honest, if you had told me 15 years ago that I’d be a mindfulness and relationship coach, I probably would’ve laughed. After earning my degree in business marketing, I spent eight years successfully working in the corporate world in telecom sales. Then, in 2000, I made a bold move to Los Angeles to pursue my heart’s dream of becoming an entertainment reporter, TV/radio host, producer, and fitness model. Within two years, I was living that dream—I was working consistently in all those arenas, turning vision into reality.
After 12 years of building a successful career in California, I started to feel the pull to return to Texas. At the same time, my heart was beginning to whisper a new calling—one I didn’t fully understand yet. I had already started diving into personal growth, spiritual studies, holistic healing modalities, psychology, and relationship dynamics to improve my own life and relationships. I was evolving and my soul was beginning to reroute me toward a completely different life path.
When I began meditating consistently, I heard a clear inner message:
“You are here to help lift the sorrow and burdens from the hearts and minds of others so they can experience more peace, joy, vitality, and prosperity in love and life.”
That moment changed everything. I realized my natural gifts were awakening, and I made the conscious decision to surrender to the unknown and follow the guidance of my heart and soul—just as I had when I took the leap and moved to California. Every chapter of my career has been filled with highs and lows, trials and triumphs, each one shaping and strengthening me in ways I never could have imagined.
So would I choose this profession again? Without a doubt.
Because even though I didn’t see it coming, this path found me. And the most beautiful part is that I never had to abandon my original passions. I still get to produce, host, create, and stay rooted in fitness—now I just do it in a way that spreads awareness about mindful living and unconditional loving. Everything aligned in a way I never could have planned. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
