Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Haylee Titterington. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Haylee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
To tell you about the risk I have to share a little back story of how my business got started. I’ve always been photography obsessed and in 2015 I got my first “big girl” camera – a canon rebel. I never thought I would start a business, but I immediately was asked to take photos for people. In 2017 my roommate had approximately zero dollars for her wedding photographer budget, so she asked if I could just “take a few photos during the day”. I took this as a challenge and wanted to give her the best experience and photos possible. I YouTubed and googled everything I could about wedding photography and even though I was completely inexperienced, for what I had, I feel I did a good job. I actually had a ton of fun and loved the experience.
Flash forward to 2021, after a few years of taking weddings and graduate sessions here and there my business started to grow quickly. At the time I was working a 9-5 while working 20-30 hours a week on my photo business. I came to a point where I knew I needed to make a jump. Either cut back on photography or quit my 9-5 and go full-time.
After praying and talking to my mentors I decided it was time to take my “little business” to the next level and invest in it full time. When I made the jump in early 2022 I was by no means fully booked for the rest of the year and I did not know how things would work out, but I was determined to work hard and trust the Lord to provide the clients I needed.
So, I invested more time on instagram, DIYed my website, and gave my all to my clients. After 6 months I had booked more weddings than ever and was able to raise my prices. Winter of 2022 I got married and in 2023 I pulled my husband into the business. Now in 2025 I am still full time photography continuing to scale my business and my husband is my business partner and videographer! He still works a 9-5, but we love working together serving couples!
I am so thankful I took the risk when I did. I have grown immensely as a person and made so many friendships and connections. I also get to work with, Marcus, my favorite person in the world while documenting the stories of joyous wedding days.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Haylee Titterington and I have loved documenting memories since I was a little girl. In college I got my first Canon Rebel and did photography as a hobby. Flash forward 10 years and now it’s my full-time job! In college I would never have thought I would start my own business or take photography further than a hobby, but the Lord had other plans.
I now run Haylee B Photo alongside my husband Marcus and we offer wedding photo & video as well as family sessions with a “home video” add-on.
Some things about us: we love Jesus and people! We live in Edmond, Oklahoma with our corgi, Copper! Jesus it the reason for everything we do. We love marriage and are the best of friends as well as business partners. We are always down for a hike in nature or to just get outside, a hype dance party (helloooo wedding receptions), worshipping with our church, or a good pizza and movie night at home. Marriage and business has brought us so much joy and it is a dream to get to serve couples and families together.
Our passion is to celebrate and serve our couples the entire way! This means during the planning process leading up to their wedding, of course their big day, and after the party is over as they start their marriage and grow their family. Leading up to their wedding we make ourselves available for any questions they have and get to know the couple so we can best capture their personalities of the day. We want them to feel loved and celebrated as we serve them so we pray for and encourage them every chance we get. On their day we strive to be their ultimate hype people! Whatever needs to be done, we are on it! From sewing on buttons to locating lost groomsmen we have it covered. I also am a firm believe that everyone needs chocolate on their wedding day, so we arrive with the couple’s favorite chocolate in hand. After the wedding we feel super connected to our clients and many of them have turned into real friendships. So, after the last gallery is sent off we do our best to stay in touch with them. In many cases, we have had the opportunity to capture their growing families.
There are 5-7 couples that I have gotten to document from proposal, engagement photos, and wedding to first anniversary and 1-2 children. Walking with them and telling their stories brings me immense joy.

How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my husband, Marcus. We. met in fall of 2014 or spring of 2015 at Oklahoma Baptist University. Though, we did not become friends until fall of 2015 when we both signed up to go on a 3 week trip to Brazil in January of 2016. On this trip we became pals but I never would have guessed we would get married!
Later that spring Marcus graduated and I still had 2 years left. After graduation Marcus went to Brazil for 4 months and I returned 2 more times before I graduated. Because if these trips we kept in touch by swapping stories of our time in this place we both loved. My senior year Many people from the university and our mutual friends began to suggest that we should date. Neither of us were fond of the idea so we shrugged it off. One time when Marcus came to visit for homecoming he mat one of my best friends. She did not know we knew each other until that encounter and she immediately came to me and told me, “Haylee you are going to marry Marcus Titterington”. I am pretty sure I audibly laughed out loud. She took this very seriously and to my absolute horror mentioned this idea to his close guy friends who now worked at the university.
After I graduated I spent 2 years in Brazil with the same people we had partnered with together in 2016. Of course, my supervisor’s wife got it in her head that we should getting married and I am convinced her prayers are a big reason we ended up married today.
In 2020 I moved back to OKC, and ended up at the same, very small, church as Marcus and same friend group. After 2 confusing years and 3 conversations that ended in “nope we are only just friends”, we decided we needed to take a step back from our friendship so it wouldn’t be weird if we dated other people. Then June 11th, 2022 out of nowhere, Marcus asked me out BEFORE a movie and I was so shocked I said, “uh sure…” We were engaged September 10th and married December 20th.
Turns out if you have to clarify that no you are just friends for 2 years but still can get enough of each other as best friends, just get married!! We have had a blissful 2+ years of marriage and I have fulled roped Marcus into being my business partner.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Client Referrals have been the best source of new clients! I have some clients that have referred me to all of their friends and even strangers. I gift a free mini session to anyone who refers me to a couple who books a wedding. This started after I had many former clients referring me as a way to thank them. It also speaks so loudly that they trust us to take care of their friends and family on such a special day.
