Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Tieman.
Hi Lindsey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, and photography became my way of capturing the raw, beautiful moments that make life so special. My journey started with a deep love for documenting the world around me—first as a hobby, then as a passion that grew into what it is today.
Becoming a mother changed everything for me. Experiencing the power of motherhood firsthand made me realize how fleeting these moments are. I wanted to freeze them in time, not just for myself but for others too. That’s when I truly found my calling in maternity, birth, and newborn photography. Seeing the emotions unfold during these milestones—whether it’s the anticipation of an expecting mother, the first breath of a newborn, or the quiet intimacy of a boudoir session—fuels my creativity and purpose.
Boudoir, in particular, holds a special place in my heart because I’ve personally struggled with body image for as long as I can remember. Like so many women, I’ve had moments where I didn’t feel confident in my own skin. But through photography, I discovered the power of seeing myself in a different light—of embracing my body for what it is, not just how I wish it looked. That experience inspired me to help other women do the same. Boudoir isn’t just about the photos; it’s about reclaiming confidence, celebrating ourselves as we are, and seeing the beauty we often overlook.
My work is about more than just taking photos; it’s about creating a safe, empowering space where people can see their own beauty, strength, and love reflected back at them. Whether it’s a mother embracing her changing body, a couple welcoming their baby, or a woman rediscovering her confidence, I want my images to tell their stories with authenticity and artistry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Like any journey worth taking, mine has been full of challenges, growth, and unexpected twists. I started out with one vision for my business, but about four months in, I realized I needed a name that truly reflected my work and the direction I wanted to go. Rebranding so early on was a big shift, but it was the right move.
Building a following has also been a struggle. In today’s world, social media plays such a huge role in running a business, and it’s been a learning curve figuring out how to get my work seen and connect with the right audience. There have been times I questioned if I was doing enough or if I was even on the right path.
I also took a leap and opened a studio, which was a dream come true at the time. But as I grew, I realized that it wasn’t the best fit for the direction of my business, and I ultimately made the difficult decision to close it. Letting go of that space was hard, but it taught me an important lesson—success doesn’t always look the way you expect it to.
Despite the ups and downs, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. Every challenge has pushed me to grow, refine my vision, and build something that feels true to who I am. I’m still learning, still evolving, and still working hard to make my business everything I know it can be.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in maternity, birth, newborn, and boudoir photography—two deeply emotional and transformative sides of life. My work is all about capturing the raw, authentic moments that define us, whether it’s the beauty of motherhood or the journey of self-love and confidence.
On one side, I focus on documenting the powerful transition into motherhood. Maternity photography allows me to showcase the strength and beauty of women as they prepare to bring life into the world. Birth photography is an incredible honor—it’s about preserving the raw, emotional moments that often go by in a blur. And newborn photography captures the fleeting, tender details of those first few weeks that parents never want to forget.
On the other side, I offer boudoir photography, which is deeply personal to me. I know what it’s like to struggle with body image, and I believe every woman deserves to feel confident, beautiful, and empowered in her own skin. Boudoir is more than just photos; it’s an experience that helps women see themselves in a new light, to embrace their beauty and own their power.
What sets me apart is the safe, supportive space I create for my clients. Whether it’s an expecting mother embracing the changes in her body, parents experiencing the first moments of their child’s life, or a woman rediscovering her confidence, I want my clients to feel seen, valued, and empowered.
I’m most proud of the way my work makes people feel. Photography isn’t just about the images—it’s about the emotions they carry, the memories they hold, and the stories they tell. My mission is to capture life’s most intimate and transformative moments with authenticity and artistry, so my clients can look back and remember not just how they looked, but how they felt.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Absolutely! Social media plays a huge role in my business, and I utilize Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to connect with my audience and share my work. CapCut is my go-to for creating reels that showcase my sessions in a dynamic and engaging way. SCRL is another app I use often—it helps me lay out my photos beautifully for Instagram, making sure my work is displayed in the most cohesive and visually appealing way.
Pinterest is a huge source of inspiration for me. I use it to gather pose ideas, create vision boards for different session vibes, and explore creative concepts that keep my work fresh and exciting. It’s a great tool not just for planning, but also for helping clients visualize their dream session.
One book that truly launched my boudoir career is “Body and Soul” by Susan Eckert. It completely changed the way I approach boudoir photography. I had always believed that boudoir wasn’t about me or my portfolio—it’s about the client. It’s about how they feel in the moment and what the images mean to them. This book reinforced that belief and deepened my understanding of how powerful boudoir can be.
These resources help me stay creative, organized, and constantly evolving in my work. But at the end of the day, the most valuable tool is the connection I build with my clients—because that’s what makes each session truly special.
