Today we’d like to introduce you to Zekeriya Polat.
Hi Zekeriya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a tech-savvy entrepreneur who hopped off the corporate train and onto my own track of innovation. Armed with an International Business degree from the University of Wollongong and an MBA from Cambridge, I started out in the corporate world of railway projects. But I soon realized that sticking to the old routine wasn’t my style. Leaving my corporate job was a bold move, but it gave me the freedom to chase a bigger vision—one that would modernize industries and make people’s lives easier.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—more like a winding railway track with plenty of unexpected stops and sharp turns. Starting my own business meant stepping into the unknown, leaving behind the comfort of a stable corporate job. When I launched Vision IT, I faced resistance from an industry that was slow to embrace change. The railway sector is heavily regulated, and convincing stakeholders to adopt new technologies wasn’t easy. There were times when deals fell through, projects stalled, and I had to rethink my entire approach. But persistence paid off, and today, Vision IT is helping modernize railway systems across multiple countries.
With MSB Houses, the challenge was different but just as tough. Real estate is a complex world, and building trust in a new brand takes time. We had to refine our processes, adjust to market shifts, and prove that technology can make property transactions smoother and more transparent.
Through it all, I’ve learned that obstacles are just part of the journey. Whether it’s adapting to new markets, navigating financial risks, or simply keeping up the motivation when things don’t go as planned, every challenge has taught me something valuable. The road may not be smooth, but that’s what makes the journey exciting.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I build tech-driven solutions for traditional industries, focusing on railways and real estate. I founded Vision IT to bring smart technology to trains and MSB Houses to simplify real estate transactions.
With Vision IT, we make railways safer and smarter. Our real-time monitoring and Digital Twin technology help predict and prevent issues before they happen, making train travel more reliable.
At MSB Houses, we take the stress out of selling homes. We use technology to make the process fast, simple, and transparent, so homeowners can skip the hassle of long negotiations and hidden fees.
What sets me apart? I love fixing outdated industries with smart tech. I don’t just follow trends—I challenge the old ways and create real change. I’m proud of building two successful companies from scratch and proving that even slow-moving industries can evolve with the right vision.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has definitely played a part in my journey—both good and bad. But I’ve learned that luck alone isn’t enough; you have to be ready when opportunity knocks.
I was lucky to meet the right people at the right time—mentors, partners, and clients who believed in my vision. Starting Vision IT just before the railway industry’s push for modernization during COVID-19 was a stroke of luck, but turning that into success took hard work and persistence.
Bad luck? Plenty of that too. The war in Ukraine, where Vision IT was born, brought unexpected challenges. Market shifts, deals falling through—things rarely go as planned. But every setback taught me to adapt, pivot, and keep moving forward.
In the end, I see luck as a spark, not the fire—it can open doors, but it’s up to me to step through and make things happen.
