Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Faircloth.
Hi Sylvia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began as I would have a love for people. There is a big difference in being compassionate and caring. As a younger woman I experienced very hard situations.I started going to the church.I was introduced to Jesus.
I realized I needed the Lord.I came into the Ministry and had a burning desire to help those who couldn’t help themselves.Basketcase Ministry was birthed.I knew love and prayer was the answer.I began showing those who had been rejected, there was. someone that would love them in spite of .I would pray for women and share my testimony.I continued my Ministry everywhere I went I loved Logansville Ga. a small town on the outskirts of Atl.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been sometimes rough.I found out everybody don’t accept you.My foundation was fervent prayer.Eventualy things would smooth out.As a Ordained Minister this was my calling.
Basket case Ministry ministered to the whole person. Many have been through traumatic situations. They needed healing, deliverance and love.
Mental Health became something I wanted to have more knowledge on.My hands on experience working with those with Mental Challenges gave me a heads up to my Ministry.Homelessness,Addiction,Trauma were some of the obstacles these women faced.
The Lord would send me the help I needed. My late spouse had the same compassion as me.We would Minister on the streets, serve food, pray with and provide resources for those who needed it
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Basket case Ministry was created by me.I was given the name by the Lord himself This Ministry was unique in the fact I choose to be different.I choose to be creative, using all the gifts I had on the inside.
The concept of this Ministry was biblically based. When people in the Bible could no longer carry themselves, they needed to be carried. Many times we are put in a position where we are broken and just so weak,we are left helpless. The soldiers back in the day would get wounded and they were put on a make shift basket to get out of harms way.I know from experience ,I was wounded and needed the Lord to carry me.Without him I would have not made it.Basketcase can sometimes refer to the helpless, rejected, depressed, sad ones.If we don’t help them, who will.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see Basket case Ministry flourishing in the coming years. There is so much going on in the world today. Many people are hurting.I pray for as many as I can .
This is a Ministry without walls.Social media, word of mouth and other organization is how I get the word out .Trends, how to uplift that one who has been beaten up by the world.Helping the rejected identity their gifts.
