Today we’d like to introduce you to Brihem Johnson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Brihem Johnson, and I’m a 30-year-old South Philadelphia native. I’ve always been told that God gave me sight, and looking back, I believe that to be true. I’m a father, a recent master’s graduate in digital marketing, and a businessman, but my journey into photography and digital media started unexpectedly.
Vi3ions, my digital media company, was born out of a moment that I didn’t see coming. A friend had a birthday photoshoot planned, but her photographer canceled last minute. She ended up at my place with her digital camera and asked if I could take some pictures of her. I had never used a camera before, but I had always loved capturing moments on my phone. So, I said, “Sure, let’s do it.” We shot right in my parking lot, and when she saw the photos, she was blown away. She told me, “Heem, for someone who’s never taken photos, you’re really good at this.”
At the time, I had just graduated with my bachelor’s in business, and that moment sparked something in me. I told myself, “I’m going to turn this into a business.” And then, things started falling into place. For the first six months, people kept offering me photography equipment—cameras, lights, lenses—without me even asking. That’s when I knew this path was meant for me.
Now, eight years later, I’m a commercial print photographer and digital marketing professional. Vi3ions has grown into more than just a photography business—it’s a creative powerhouse that allows me to bring brands, stories, and people to life visually. My journey has been about faith, passion, and taking advantage of every opportunity that comes my way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change a thing because every challenge shaped me into the creative and businessman I am today.
When I first started, I didn’t have formal photography training or professional equipment. I was learning everything on the fly—watching YouTube videos, experimenting, and just figuring it out through trial and error. There were moments of doubt, especially early on, when I questioned if I was good enough or if people would take me seriously.
Financially, it was tough, too. In the beginning, I was doing free shoots just to build my portfolio and gain experience. There were times when I had to choose between investing in new equipment or handling personal expenses, and I had to get creative to make it all work.
Another challenge was balancing entrepreneurship with personal responsibilities. Being a father, a full-time student, and running a business meant long nights and early mornings. There were moments when I felt stretched thin, but I reminded myself why I started.
One of the biggest struggles was breaking into commercial photography. It’s a competitive industry, and getting brands to trust you with their vision takes time. I had to prove myself, consistently deliver quality work, and build relationships that led to bigger opportunities.
Through it all, I stayed focused, kept learning, and trusted the process. Every setback was a setup for a bigger win. Now, looking back, those struggles were just stepping stones to where I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a commercial print photographer and digital marketing professional, and my work is all about bringing visions to life. Through my company, Vi3ions, I specialize in high-quality photography, branding, and digital media services that help individuals and businesses tell their stories in a way that’s both powerful and authentic.
I’m best known for my ability to capture raw, striking visuals that don’t just look good but make you *feel* something. Whether it’s editorial, beauty, lifestyle, or branding photography, my goal is always to create images that stand out and connect with people on a deeper level.
One of the things I’m most proud of is my growth—from picking up a camera for the first time in my parking lot to now having over 700 publications nationally and internationally. Seeing my work in major magazines, campaigns, and platforms is a reminder of how far I’ve come. But beyond the recognition, I’m most proud of the impact I’ve had. When clients tell me my work helped elevate their brand or gave them confidence in themselves, that’s what really makes it all worth it.
What sets me apart is my perspective. I didn’t come into photography through the traditional route. I see things differently because I approach every project with both a creative and strategic mindset. My background in business and digital marketing gives me an edge—I don’t just take pictures, I create visuals that *work*. I understand branding, storytelling, and consumer engagement, so my work goes beyond aesthetics; it’s designed to make an impact.
At the end of the day, Vi3ions is bigger than photography. It’s about seeing possibilities where others don’t, pushing creative boundaries, and helping others bring their dreams to life.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is legacy, creating something meaningful that outlives me. I want to inspire others, especially my son, to chase their dreams fearlessly, to trust their vision, and to know that with faith and hard work, anything is possible.
My journey into photography and business wasn’t just about making money; it was about proving to myself and to others that we can turn our passions into something real. I care about impact. Whether it’s helping a brand elevate their image, capturing a moment that someone cherishes forever, or mentoring creatives who are just starting out, I want my work to matter.
Faith also plays a big role in everything I do. I truly believe that God put me on this path for a reason, and I don’t take that lightly. The way opportunities and resources came into my life when I first started showed me that this was meant for me. So, I stay grounded, stay grateful, and always keep pushing forward.
At the end of the day, what drives me isn’t just success it’s significance. I want to leave a mark, not just in my industry, but in the lives of the people I cross paths with.
