Today we’d like to introduce you to Tula Gout.
Hi Tula, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started with a dream. Nichze said that dreams are a reflection of our deepest desires, fears, and subconscious mind, where we act as the authors of our own reality, making dreams a powerful tool for self-exploration and understanding our inner world.
From quite a young age I loved to immerse myself in creative worlds and tell stories. This never stopped, and so I discovered that acting was a job. Acting became my passion then and still is, something I look forward to doing and that brings me so much joy.
I shaped my path since middle school into an acting direction hoping to go to New York and study there. I’m so happy and proud of myself that I accomplished that dream. It still feels so surreal that I moved to New York and I’m in one of the best acting schools there is, where so many remarkable actors have been.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely not been smooth at all. From self accepting that acting was the career I wanted to pursue to actually doing it has been quite tough. To this day being confronted with the reality of the industry and insecurities about being able to be a working actor.
But those insecurities only time would be able to overcome them. I gained so much confidence in myself that the road became smoother. Believing in yourself your talent and knowing why you chose this profession makes this road easier in a way.
This profession also askes quite a lot from you, you are seen in every aspect, you give your emotions and your physic away and allow to be mold as it fits the characters you are asked to play trying as best as you can to bring to life the directors, creators vision.
I guess the emotional part is one of the hardest things, being with your character’s emotions and then going back to yours can be quite overwhelming from time to time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actress, born and raised in Mexico now living in New York. I’m currently studying at “Lee Strasberg”. I’ve done some voice work for a netflix show called “american jesus” and for a podcast called “the king of the peso”, I’m so proud to have worked on those beautiful projects.
I’m mostly proud of confronting my fear and not letting them overthrow me. Coming to New York and being far away from my family or knowing when I will see them again is quite terrifying, as well as following your dream across another country and giving your absolutely everything for so much uncertainty. But at the end of the day I am doing what I once hoped for and even on a bad day I challenge myself to get up and work hard.
I’m also super proud of being able to speak 3 languages fluently (spanish, english and french) and i hope to be able to work in the 3 of them.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My first supporters have and always will be my parents. They supported me and helped me to make my dream come true. At Lee Starberg I met so many amazing teachers that changed my way of acting and definitely improved it. They made me believe in myself and explore my talent to the fullest. I gain not only straight but also so much knowledge and I have them to thank for.
Lastly I believe I have to thank my younger self for not giving up and for dreaming so big and pushing to make that dream true!
