Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Writes.
Hi Miranda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started writing poetry in high school just as a way to express myself. I always found so much freedom in writing and like they say, Hip Hop gives people a voice. Eventually I started rapping what I was writing and the rest was history. From that moment on I attended every event I could go to, every park jam, and just completely submerged myself into all things Hip Hop. Needless to say, I haven’t looked back since. All of the best memories I’ve had in my life has stemmed from my decision to pick up a microphone and it was definitely the best decision I ever made! I’m never stopping!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Hahaha definitely not, in fact the road is still very much bumpy… but you know what they say, you have to find beauty in the journey. I think this industry can be very cold sometimes so you really have to do your best to remain grounded and not lose yourself along the way. I’ve had people steal money from me, try to lure me into bad deals, just act shady and you know out for themselves so you live and you learn. As a woman we also experience a lot of pressure when it comes to the music and beauty standards so that also used to be a big thing for me, feeling like I had to be perfect. At this point, I’m just me and I’m okay with everyone who is okay with that. What’s meant for me I can’t lose, what I let affect me is what I choose. So I surround myself with amazing people, we set awesome goals and do the best we can by also operating in a high vibrational frequency mentally, spiritually, and physically.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Hip Hop and Pop artist from New York known for my high energy stage shows, and versatile music that blends elements from Hip Hop, Dance, and Pop. I love to get the party going! I also happen to be the first female Hip Hop artist to cross over into the snowboard market and the first biracial female to do so. I’ve been supported by Whitelines Magazine (aka The Snowboarder’s Bible) and Forbes Magazine for my efforts in doing so. I love snowboarding and have been an advocate for promoting diversity within the extreme sports industry. I love working with the youth and I’m the touring emcee for the Harlem Globetrotters. Fun fact, I’m the first female emcee to ever tour internationally with the team in 99 years.
Currently I’m pushing my new single POSE which has been having continuous pick ups from DJs worldwide; it has been added to over 65 Spotify playlists thus far and now radio spins with stations such as Pitbull Globalization, IHeart radio stations and various internet radio spots. I would love for you to listen to it here! https://mirandawrites.lnk.to/Pose
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being myself, loving what I do, having gratitude every day I get to do it.
