Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Borrero.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I graduated high school in 2011 without a clear idea of what I wanted to do. I had taken a cosmetology program in high school, but quickly realized that doing hair wasn’t for me. However, I found myself fascinated by the skincare side of things, which led me to pursue a career as an esthetician. I graduated from esthetician school in 2013, and it was a pivotal moment for me in discovering my passion for wellness.
In 2017, I decided to expand my skills and became a licensed massage therapist, further deepening my understanding of the body and its healing process. Over the next couple of years, I worked in two different spas, gaining invaluable experience. However, as much as I loved what I was doing, I felt an overwhelming urge to strike out on my own. In 2020, I took the leap and opened House of Healing Wellness Spa. Building a business from the ground up was incredibly challenging, but it was one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. I’m so grateful I took that risk, and it has shaped my life in ways I never imagined. After a year of being open, my friend Amanda started working alongside me in my space and it’s been an incredible experience to bounce ideas off each other and work alongside someone who is like a sister to me!
Now, going further this year I’ve decided to go back to school once again to dive into the healthcare world and add to my toolbox, and become a licensed radiologist technologist. (Still working with the body because of course, I love it!)
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
On a personal note, 2025 will mark six years of sobriety for me, and I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. For many years, I struggled with alcohol, though I didn’t fully admit it to myself. I worked in an environment where drinking was normalized, and I surrounded myself with people who weren’t always supportive of my well-being. In 2018, I met my now-husband, Adam, and my stepson, Logan. They opened my eyes to a life without alcohol. While I got sober for myself, I know I would not have been able to achieve it without their unwavering support. They’ve truly saved my life and helped me become the person I am today.
I found the strength and clarity to not only get sober but also build a life I could have only dreamed of. Over the years, we’ve built two businesses; House of Healing Wellness Spa and SquaredUp Fitness, bought a home, and created a beautiful family adding on our three dogs and a cat. We’ve had the privilege of traveling to many incredible places together, which has enriched our lives and strengthened our bond.
Looking back, I’m amazed at how much I’ve accomplished, but I know I wouldn’t have been able to do any of it without the love and support of my husband, my parents and my family; who have supported me no matter what and cheered me on through every phase of life. I’m truly grateful for the life I’ve created for myself, and I’m excited for what the future holds!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about House of Healing Wellness Spa?
House of Healing Spa is a sanctuary for healing, relaxation, and self-care. At its core, my business is focused on offering personalized wellness services that are designed to nurture both the body and the mind. We specialize in a holistic approach to wellness, blending skincare & massage therapy to promote balance, rejuvenation and healing within.
What sets us apart is the unique combination of services we offer, all of which are aimed at creating an individualized experience for each client. From skincare treatments to therapeutic massage and bodywork, our goal is to address both immediate needs and long-term health. Whether clients are looking to de-stress, manage pain, or simply take time for themselves, we tailor our services to meet their specific needs. We understand that not every service is a “one size fits all” so we really try to listen to each and every person who walks through the door to understand where they are in their healing journey, and what their goals are.
One thing we’re especially known for is our commitment to using high-quality, natural products that are effective and safe for all skin types. We believe in the power of nature, and I’ve chosen a skincare line, Green Envee; that reflect that philosophy. This dedication to quality extends to every service we offer – we don’t just treat symptoms, we focus on healing and restoring balance from the inside out.
I’m also incredibly proud of the personal touch we bring to every aspect of the business. We’re not a typical “cookie-cutter” spa. Each client is treated like family, and we take the time to get to know their unique needs and goals. Our clients appreciate the warm, welcoming environment we’ve cultivated at House of Healing Wellness Spa, and many of them return time and time again not just for the treatments, but because they genuinely feel cared for and understood.
Ultimately, what I want our clients and potential clients to know is that House of Healing Wellness Spa is more than just a place to get a facial or massage. It’s a place where you can restore your body, mind, and soul. We are deeply committed to helping each individual feel empowered, rejuvenated, and at peace. Whether it’s a routine facial, a therapeutic massage, or a medical massage, we’re here to provide a personalized approach to self-care that’s rooted in healing and authenticity.
