Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Evelyn.
Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I previously worked as a corporate professional but I always knew I wanted to be my own boss and turn “being myself” into a career. I was able to begin working as a freelance creator about 5 years ago primarily doing travel, tourism and hospitality content. During the pandemic this was obviously halted and I thought about branching out but I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do – I felt really passionless. I worked out of Las Vegas for a while and naturally began gravitating towards food + beverage content purely because I love to eat! This has evolved into content creation focused on my life in the PNW including food, beverage, beauty, travel, crafting, home & garden – a little bit of everything!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been smooth but the road has always felt natural and correct. I’ve struggled with imposter syndrome as I think many people have, and compared myself to others when that wasn’t helpful or necessary. I also struggle with consistency and realistically, I still do. Celebrating small wins instead of focusing on what I haven’t accomplished yet has been important for me recently. As I continue in this profession I can feel when burnout is looming and can plan accordingly, whereas I had a much harder time figuring that out earlier in my career.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a PNW based content creator specializing in lifestyle content – food, beverage, beauty, travel, crafting, home & garden. I particularly love to create themed cocktail, mocktail and baking recipe videos, especially themed around holidays. I began by doing mostly travel content and I would prefer to be primarily a travel creator but I just can’t travel as often as I would like – though I’m really hoping to change that in 2025! I am probably most proud of my solo trip to Iceland, it was my first solo trip and really made me realize how much I would enjoy content creation in the travel/tourism field. I believe my previous experience as a professional in corporate America paired with my confident personality and wit make me a unique creator that brands enjoy partnering with.
What does success mean to you?
I think success might be something you’re consistently achieving. In my mind a successful person is always bettering themselves and trying to understand more of the world around them. I am unfortunately someone who, after they achieve a goal, revels very little in my accomplishments and instead looks to the next goal. Success cannot be a specific goal to me because I will always keep moving the goal post. So, I choose to define success in a more existential fashion. I feel most successful when I am fostering long term friendships and community, and improving myself as a human.
