My journey to becoming an Operations Manager in the call center industry began humbly at Vistaprint, where I started as a Customer Service Representative. It was there that I first learned the foundations of customer care and operational excellence.
The road to where I am today has been anything but easy. It was a path marked by trials, long nights, tears, and moments of doubt. However, through it all, I leaned on prayer, perseverance, and unwavering dedication to keep moving forward. Each challenge became a stepping stone, teaching me resilience and sharpening my skills.
Today, I take pride in leading and inspiring my team with the same determination that carried me through this journey. It’s a testament to the power of hard work and faith in the face of obstacles.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has been far from smooth. One of the toughest challenges was the late-night travel from Montego Bay to Hanover after long, exhausting shifts. There were days when the weight of those journeys felt unbearable, but I knew that quitting wasn’t an option.
Adding to the difficulty were the long hours spent on calls, where I had to fight to remain upbeat and friendly with every customer, even while facing personal challenges. It was a constant battle to keep my energy and positivity intact. But amidst these struggles, my determination to succeed became my anchor. I kept reminding myself of the goals I wanted to achieve and the heights I was destined to reach.
Though the journey was filled with trials, it molded me into someone who could endure and excel under pressure. Each hardship reinforced my drive to lead and inspire others, proving that resilience and persistence can turn even the most challenging roads into stepping stones to success.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently the Operations Manager at Visionappoint, a live-receptionist, no-contract concierge medical call center that specializes in serving Optometrists, Ophthalmologists and Medical doctors across the United States. My role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business, including Accounting/Payroll, Human Resources, and overall management for our locations in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. Each day presents unique challenges and opportunities, but my focus remains on ensuring that the business runs smoothly and our clients and staff are well-supported.
One of the achievements I am most proud of is the incredible growth of the organization under my leadership. When I joined Visionappoint in 2018, the company had just 20 staff members. Through strategic planning, dedication, and teamwork, we have expanded to over 80 employees, with plans to acquire our own building in the western part of Jamaica. This growth reflects not only the success of the business but also the collective hard work and commitment of our team.
What truly sets Visionappoint apart is the personalized service we provide to our clients. Unlike traditional call centers, each office we work with is assigned two dedicated receptionists who answer their phones daily. This approach fosters strong patient relationships and builds seamless communication between in-office staff and our call center team. The consistency of having familiar voices on the line enhances trust and reliability for our clients and their patients.

When reflecting on the qualities that have been most instrumental to my success, three stand out: resilience, integrity, and confidence. These characteristics have shaped my leadership style and guided me through the challenges of my professional journey.
Resilience has been a cornerstone of my success. In the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of a call center, challenges are inevitable. Whether it’s managing late-night transitions, addressing operational hurdles, or navigating difficult decisions, resilience has allowed me to adapt, persevere, and find solutions. It’s about bouncing back stronger with each challenge, staying focused on the bigger picture, and encouraging others to do the same.
Integrity is another key quality I hold dear. Leadership isn’t just about making decisions; it’s about making the right decisions, even when they are difficult. Maintaining honesty, transparency, and fairness in all my dealings ensures that I build trust with both my team and clients. Integrity fosters a culture of accountability and mutual respect, creating an environment where people feel valued and motivated to perform their best.
Finally, confidence plays a vital role in my success as a leader. Confidence isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about trusting my abilities, making informed decisions, and standing by them. It’s the belief in my vision and the determination to inspire others to work towards a shared goal. Confidence helps me lead with clarity and conviction, even in the face of uncertainty.
