Today we’d like to introduce you to Simmy.

Hi Simmy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

I don’t have much a story! I had too many opinions and thoughts in my head for only the people in my life to get bombarded with. Also, I’m so unforgivably, and chronically online– most people in my real life didn’t know what on earth I was talking about. I needed a space to yap, and get creative and Youtube has always been the perfect place for that.

I started posting the kind of content I do now, about 2 years ago. And immediately I knew that there was something really special about conceptualising a video, and seeing it the entire way through. Writing the script, filming (my least fave bit), editing, and seeing the final thing coming together is wonderful My dream is to direct one day, and I think Youtube provided me a place to direct, produce and write. It ticks so many creative boxes for me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

It’s never been a smooth road. I’ve started and stopped before. I contemplate quitting all the time. But I’ve always struggled with comparison, and being a bit too hard on myself. This isn’t Cannes, this is just Youtube. The algorithm is unpredictable, and frankly, so am I. So, it’s best to just remind myself that this is for creative fulfilment first and foremost; and continue making things that feel creatively fulfilling.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

I kind of have the stereotypical office job by day, and entertainer by night! I love what I do for work, as it’s still largely creatively fulfilling. But, I love ending my day gaming and streaming with my audience or getting to edit a video. I think many of my friends know me for kind of being the “creative” one. Math, science and all that have never been my strengths.

How do you think about happiness?

All the normal cliche things: spending lots of time with my family and friends. But on a deeper level, finishing the things I set out to do. No matter how big or small. I’m an earth sign, so feeling accomplished makes me feel really happy.

Sometimes, that’s creatively, sometimes it’s as simple as going out to buy groceries, if that’s all I needed to do that day. Y’know? Simple things.
