Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyson Robinson.
Tyson , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Tyson Robinson, I’m 27 Years-Old, & I’m from Chesapeake, Virginia. I originally moved to Seattle in 2019 after graduating from Norfolk State University with a degree in Communications.
When I moved to Seattle in the spring of 2019, I started to ingratiate myself with the city’s culture and fell in love with the progressiveness. Seattle teaches me how to stand for something greater than myself. I support all the sociopolitical movements that are currently taking shape.
In the summer of 2020 is when I first started my podcast, TysonsVibe Show.
With just a microphone, some basic editing software, and a passion for racial injustice issues, I released my first episode in the summer of 2020. I realized that the stories I was sharing were frustrating and painful. Something told me that it just wasn’t my area to focus on. A phone call later by someone I truly confide in confirmed that with me and pointed me in different direction. In those early days, I had no idea what I was doing, but I was driven by the excitement of sharing new ideas and conversations with others. What began as a casual side project has since grown into something much bigger, bringing together a community of like-minded business owners and engaging discussions that go far beyond what I originally imagined. 4 years strong, I’m glad to have rebranded my show to, “TysonsVibe: Startup Grind Show, a dynamic space where visionaries, innovators, and trailblazers come together to share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs. “Elevate Your Brand, Amplify Your Success”.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One lesson I had to unlearn is that hard work alone guarantees success. Growing up, I was taught that if you put in the hours and effort, success would naturally follow. I carried this mindset into the first part of my 20’s, often taking on extra tasks, working late, and going above and beyond with the assumption that it would automatically lead to recognition and advancement. However, over time, I realized that hard work is just one piece of the puzzle. Success also requires strategy, self-advocacy, and relationship-building.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been podcasting since the summer of 2020 and even recorded my first episode in July of 2020. I’m currently the host of, “TysonsVibe: Startup Grind Show”, a show that focuses on interviewing startup founders.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
For Seattle,
– I love the progressiveness that Seattle has to offer. The city’s thriving food scene boasts everything from fresh seafood and gourmet coffee to diverse global cuisines. As the home of tech giants like Amazon and Microsoft, Seattle also buzzes with innovation and opportunity. Whether exploring Pike Place Market, enjoying a ferry ride, or catching live music in its legendary venues, there’s something to capture everyone’s heart in this dynamic city.
– One common dislike to Seattle is its notorious rainy and overcast weather. It can feel unrelenting during the long winter months.
