Hi Dream, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in the South Bronx to a single mom who showed me from young you want something you gotta go get it for yourself and you can do anything you want to do if you try. Everything my mother taught me even the hard lessons have shaped me to be an amazing mother and great person if I say so myself
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a long road of ups and downs. But everything I go through I get through. Of course I get upset who wouldn’t when life is lifing unexpectedly you feel like your world is crashing down but patience and refocusing is what usually helps me. Some of my biggest struggles were being able to pursue my goal of being a lawyer. That was my dream and the people who I thought I could rely on to watch my oldest son at the time failed me by not falling through so I ended up having to quit college and ended up becoming a paraprofessional for special needs children which I love. Other struggles I have faced are the injustice in the work place in the medical field and lack of support in my business. I still remain strong and keep pushing failure is not an option and my boys depend on me. If I don’t do it who will ?
We’ve been impressed with PinkMagicByDream, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
PinkMagicByDream is a girls one stop shop. I have hair bundles , wigs full lace , HD 7×6 . Vegan lipgloss, sweatsuits which are also unisex. I started getting male customers after braiding a few males hair so I added those as well. My best friend always tells me “I have the best hair out” lol. I also provide tooth gems, wig coloring and box braids on natural hair. I’m known for my hoodies that’s my best seller , I always hear how warm they are and people still remind me years later they still wear them and have them. Hearing customers still keep hair or apparel makes me feel good because I first got into my business because I felt that I could provide the customer service that I wasn’t getting from other businesses to myself and to the “ community” I sell to.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The advice I would give is keep going. The business world is built on who you know that will put you in the position to excel, don’t expect your friends to support you. Your most support will indeed come from strangers and if you don’t have that one “mixxy” “popular” person to help back you up to get sales , use all the creator platforms and find your audience. You’ll have good profit days and bad. But no matter what keep going!!!
