Today we’d like to introduce you to Trey Flynt.
Hi Trey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in New Mexico and my father was a fairly accomplished photographer. I always enjoyed taking photos but didn’t begin to take it seriously until about 7 yrs ago when I got my first “nice” camera.
I enjoy traveling, nature and exploring and photography gives me an even better reason to get out.
My favorite subject to photograph is the night sky. There is just something so mesmerizing looking at the stars and realizing how insignificant we truly are.
I also enjoy landscape and wildlife photography. Capturing the beauty of a moment in time keeps me always hopefully for my next shot.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s extremely difficult to make a living as a photographer and gaining a following is the biggest obstacle I’ve encountered.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Social media has trained us to crave attention or “likes”. It’s a form of validation that a photo I liked is also liked by others.
I’m most proud of hopefully making my deceased father proud of my photography. It’s an honor when someone tells me I have talent like he did.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Do what you enjoy. Even if others don’t seem to be paying attention.
Sometimes I take what I believe is a great shot and others don’t seem to care. You have to still be proud of your work even without accolades.
