Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Ellis.
Brandon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My mother introduced me into the performing arts at age 7. My professional career spans well over 29 years of experience in dance, teaching dance, choreography, acting, singing, and a host of other talents.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Sexual identity discrimination because I am a proud out member of the LGBTQ community.
Race identification because I’m multiracial and was born with Vitiligo. So I do not look Black enough if a role calls for me to look Black. That’s very frustrating at times for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a professional dancer trained by The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center turned Dance Teacher, Choreographer, Actor, Acting Coach, Casting Director and Artistic Director.
I’m most proud of being a dance teacher & acting coach because I get to past the torch of the legacy of master teachers who have trained me.
I’m unapologetically Brandon Ellis love me or hate me. My purpose while here on earth is to be the vessel I prayed to my God to use me as inspiration, hope, & motivation to help touch other’s lives in a positive meaningful way.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
