We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Richard Borjas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Richard, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
During the pandemic, I was laid off from my dream job—an opportunity that had brought me to Los Angeles. As I faced this unexpected crossroads, I took the time to reassess my life and career. I had always dreamed of starting my own business, but the security of corporate life—steady salary, benefits, and stability—had kept me from taking that leap of faith. However, this challenging experience became the catalyst for change, pushing me to turn my vision into reality. That’s when I founded *Bormont Entertainment*.
As a proud “200-percenter”—100% American, 100% Latino—I recognized early in my career the lack of Hispanic representation in mainstream entertainment. I wanted to be part of the solution, bridging the gap between Hispanic and general markets. With a deep understanding of both cultures, I set out to create a company that not only serves as a liaison between these industries but also represents talent that seamlessly fits into both worlds.

I’m the founder of *Bormont Entertainment*, a multi-faceted media firm built on four core pillars: **Showrunning, Development, Talent Management, and Branding**. Our mission is to create compelling content, develop innovative projects, elevate talent, and craft brand strategies that authentically connect with diverse audiences.
My journey into this industry began with my love for **journalism**. From an early age, I was drawn to storytelling—the power of words, the ability to inform, inspire, and create meaningful conversations. Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Our best source of new clients at Bormont Entertainment has been a mix of cold outreach, warm leads, and referrals. In the early stages, we actively sought opportunities, leveraging industry connections and strategic networking. As the business has grown, referrals have become the driving force behind our success. The trust we’ve built with clients and partners has led to strong word-of-mouth recommendations. Nothing speaks louder than the success stories of those we’ve worked with, and that organic growth has been invaluable.
