We recently connected with Alex Lazarchik and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
If you want to be successful in anything you do, it’s so important to have discipline. Don’t wait to be motivated or blame inconsistency on lack of motivation. You must be disciplined to know when you need to do the work and why you’re doing what you’re doing. I watched a Ted Talk on confidence, and the speaker said, “Confident people keep promises to themselves.” This goes hand in hand with discipline. Discipline will teach you to keep promises to yourself and boost your confidence, both which I believe are essential for success.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My social media marketing journey begins in 2018 during my sophomore year of college. I attended the Eberly College of Business and IT at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the former Associate Dean encouraged me to apply to the Eberly Street Team (which later evolved to the Eberly Digital Marketing Team). This was a student-led team who were responsible for managing Eberly’s social media marketing. The team partnered with a digital marketing consultant which led to my first internship and full time role. About a year later, freelance social media managers started trending on TikTok and I thought to myself, “I can do that!” Thus, Sunrise Social was born. Over the years, I’ve offered various services ranging from Social Media Management, UGC, Event Content Creation, and Coaching. Currently, I have four social media management contracts, offer wedding content creation, and UGC. Recently, I was extended the offer to become part of Mount’s Steward program as well. Mount is a travel app that helps you find hidden gems all around the world. I will partner with Airbnb’s, hotels, and restaurants on UGC collaborations.
My work helps businesses who know social media is important but are looking for a strategic partner to help them grow. Social Media Marketing is very much a partnership. You’re the expert on your brand and I’m the expert in social. Together, we will create a social media marketing strategy that will help you reach your goals. Outside of social media management, brides have been hiring me to create content on their wedding day using my phone. This gives them a very authentic way to reminisce on their special day. Lastly, when it comes to content creation for Mount or other businesses, this helps them have high quality and engaging content without hiring someone full-time.
I am really proud of the relationships I build with my clients. I have a very direct, friendly, and authentic approach. I’m very passionate about what I do and I genuinely want everyone to succeed. If you work with me, you can trust you’re receiving a personalized approach and strategic partner.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Absolutely. Community is everything. I’ve always played the long game on social media. I get great engagement on all my content because I have a genuine relationship with my followers and put effort into that. I also kept a careful eye on the content people wanted to see from me so I can continue to help my followers be successful in marketing and through their life.
I also don’t shy away from sharing my life and personal milestones. This helps my audience get to know me personally rather than just surface level.
On occasion, I have coffee chats with my followers to network and get to know each other. All of those turn into long term relationships!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I used to extensively plan ahead before doing anything. When it came to my business, I decided to just jump into it! There are pro’s to this and at some point you definitely have to take the leap, but I’ve learned to think things through more intelligently and patiently before saying yes to every opportunity. I’ve put 4 years into building my business and brand so by this point I know what opportunities align with Sunrise Social. When I first started, I would take anything I could get. Now, I am much more patient and thoughtful about what I choose to invest time and money in and what clients I work with.
