We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Key Ocho a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Key, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to be remembered as someone who guided others toward deep healing, self-realization, and liberation. Through my work with Chiron, I want to leave behind a legacy that reframes wounds not as lifelong burdens but as sacred initiations into wisdom. My teachings, writings, and spiritual offerings are meant to empower others to transmute pain into purpose, to see themselves with compassion, and to embrace their path with clarity and courage. I want people to remember me as someone who created spaces—both in presence and through my work—where healing, truth, and transformation could unfold. Long after I am gone, I hope my words, sound meditations, and teachings continue to serve as guiding lights, reminding people that their wounds are not the end of their story but the beginning of their liberation.
Key, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Chiron Guide, sound healer, and spiritual educator dedicated to helping people transform their wounds into wisdom. My journey into this work began at a young age when I naturally sought out spiritual connection and deep inner exploration. Growing up in a religious family, I had many questions about faith, healing, and the unseen realms, which led me to study a variety of spiritual traditions, ancient wisdom texts, and holistic healing modalities. Over time, I discovered that my experiences with pain and transformation aligned with the archetype of Chiron—the wounded healer. That realization set me on the path of guiding others through their healing journeys.
Through my work, I offer Wounded Healer Sessions using the wisdom of Chiron, sound healing, spiritual mentorship, and transformative workshops that help individuals navigate their wounds and reclaim their power. My signature approach integrates ancient wisdom, modern self-inquiry, and holistic healing techniques, allowing clients to understand their wounds and actively transmute them into sources of strength and clarity. Whether through one-on-one sessions, group experiences, or my written works, my goal is always to create spaces where deep healing, self-realization, and personal liberation can unfold.
What sets my work apart is that I approach Chiron not just as an astrological placement but as a spiritual path—one that leads to transcendence, integration, and personal mastery. I have developed a methodology that moves beyond traditional astrology into somatic healing, sound meditation, and guided self-inquiry, ensuring that healing isn’t just intellectual but embodied. My clients walk away with more than just insight; they leave with tools, clarity, and a deeper connection to themselves.
I am most proud of the spaces I’ve created—whether through my sound baths, spiritual teachings, or written works—where people feel seen, validated, and empowered to embrace their healing journey. I want potential clients and followers to know my work is not about fixing anyone but guiding them back to their innate wisdom and wholeness. Healing is not about erasing wounds; it’s about understanding their purpose and learning how to walk with them in a way that leads to freedom.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Life has a way of redirecting us when we least expect it, and one of my most significant pivots came in 2009. I went to school for journalism, fully expecting to build a career in the media world—I even envisioned myself working for the Chicago Tribune. But when the recession hit, the journalism industry was in turmoil, and the opportunities I had hoped for disappeared. I navigated a changing landscape, working at a hip-hop magazine and freelancing to stay afloat.
During that time, I felt the pull to explore something new. In 2010, I decided to go to school to become an esthetician. What started as a practical career shift became the gateway into the wellness world. As I learned about skincare, I became more interested in holistic healing, self-care, and the mind-body connection. From there, I started leaning deeper into meditation, astrology, sound healing, and spiritual wellness—practices that supported my growth and became the foundation of the work I do today.
That pivot, born out of uncertainty, led me to a path that feels more aligned with my purpose than I ever imagined. It taught me that sometimes, what feels like a detour is the road we were meant to take all along.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
One of the most effective strategies for growing my clientele has been showing up in person—attending events that genuinely interest me and connecting with people who share those same interests. Some of my most aligned clients and collaborations have come from simply being present in spaces where deep conversations naturally happen. Whether it’s wellness gatherings, spiritual workshops, or creative community events, I’ve found that building real-life relationships creates a different level of trust and connection that online interactions often can’t replicate.
Hosting and participating in in-person events has also been impactful. Offering sound baths, workshops, and Chiron readings in physical spaces allows people to experience my work firsthand. Being in the community, talking to people, and allowing them to experience my energy and work directly has been invaluable.
I believe we are relearning the importance of in-person connections after the pandemic. While online spaces are powerful, they are not the only way to build relationships or a business. There is something sacred about face-to-face interactions, about sharing space with others meaningfully. By getting offline and into real-world communities, I’ve formed lasting connections that naturally turn into clients, collaborations, and word-of-mouth referrals. Authenticity and shared experiences build trust—something that can’t always be rushed or manufactured in digital spaces.
Another key strategy that has helped me build trust with my audience is offering new products and services at a discounted rate or even for free when testing them. This allows people to experience the value of my work before fully committing while also allowing me to refine my offerings based on honest feedback. My Wounded Healer spiritual oil is an excellent example of this. When I first introduced it, I shared it with clients and workshop attendees so they could incorporate it into their meditation or healing practices. Seeing how people resonated with it—and how it deepened their experiences—helped me refine and confidently offer it as a sacred tool for healing and transformation.
