We were lucky to catch up with Erin Wright recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Erin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Learning to run a business isn’t something to be rushed, although developing a cooperative workflow would have skyrocketed my efficiency and time management early on.
With that in mind, I never realized how little I knew until working here.
Previously, I had a consistent background in media production and marketing. Since joining Silver Canon, I learned to run a business. The day-to-day operations, margins, and joy of the job came together over the nearly 2 years I’ve helped run this place. I’ve learned to be an accountant, salesman, technical writer, project manager, marketer, analyst, researcher, and so much more to keep the ball rolling.
The job easily evolves into a lifestyle, I am never *not working*. I’m able to apply what I learned here to my daily life and I’m better for it. It seeps into your daily life in the most beautiful ways, creating connections through shared knowledge and passion for games and community is incredible!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Welcome all, I’m Erin! I’m a 19 year old small-time streamer and business owner with a strong passion for games.
I started making videos as young as 6 or 7 (around the time I got my first computer!) I’ve been creating and marketing my entire life, whether it’s for the student body throughout my school years, for myself, or for Silver Canon.
I accidentally stumbled into my job funnily enough. I carried the passion for games and community with me into the building, and Jason took note of that. Right place, right time.
Since then I’ve been curating a safe and accepting community in Baltimore centered around gaming. I’ve finally created a space I’ve wanted my entire life.
Here’s the secret- what sets us apart is our transparency with the community and the support we all provide for each other.
We also love keeping everyone in the loop as much as possible and giving our community on Discord first dibs on new stock before anything else.
We’re always expanding the Silver Canon brand and its services! With that said, we at Silver Canon love running weekly Dungeons and Dragons/Pathfinder Society Sessions so that the immediate Baltimore area always has a place to play! We also offer board game events, card game events, paint classes, and some new Warhammer Events! We’ve also introduced some of our first paid campaigns so we can better compensate DMs for the hard work they do!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
In my experience, building an audience is heavily reliant on being genuine in whatever you’re posting. If you can’t be genuine about it, it’s not a good fit. You can have the perfect SEO and hop on all the right trends and still not have the community you desperately want.
I’ve learned the people around us (me included) adore it when we express our passions and share them. Consistency is still key of course. Post, engage, and show new things you love to your audience.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to create and expand the space I and many around me lack. A space to engage and share the joy with others where we can have a break from our daily lives. I’m creating a true destination on the Internet as well as in person. As cliche and sappy as it sounds, this journey is fulfilling. It’s worth it to see people do the “happy dance” or smile big when you have something in common- or even when they get to explain something entirely new to you that they love. I am obsessed with seeing everyone who walks in relax within minutes of meeting us because it tells me what I’m doing is working and worth it.
Supplying this opportunity to those around me, whether they realize it or not is the entire reason I persevere. Regardless of how tight my schedule or the budget gets, seeing the impact my work has makes it worth the effort.
