Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Starr Day. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Starr, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I don’t have a specific defining moment in my career that I can really pin point. However, since being opened and transparent about my own personal journey with health and fitness, i constantly receive uplifting messages from women who let me know they started their fitness journey because of me or how they look up to me etc. I’m very big on transparency regarding my journey with health and fitness ; and how I started because I was getting out of an abusive relationship. This was a way I found myself again. I never went into this field thinking I would be able to help other women similar to me. So when I receive these messages it really makes me happy and lets me know that I’m doing something right.
Starr, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
A resilient single mother of two, i transformed my life after overcoming domestic violence, using health and fitness as my path to healing and empowerment. Through strength training and self-discipline, I was able to reclaim my confidence and well-being, turning my passion into a mission. Now, as a certified personal trainer, I am dedicated to helping other women become the best versions of themselves—physically, mentally, and emotionally. Offering both online and in-person training, I provide personalize programs designed to fit busy lifestyles, empowering women to build strength, confidence, and resilience through fitness.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Keeping an open mind. Prime example
Becoming a yoga sculpt instructor from a strength coach was challenging because it required mastering a new movement style, developing greater mobility and flexibility, and blending mindfulness with intensity. Shifting from pure strength training to incorporating breathwork, balance, and fluid transitions pushed me out of my comfort zone, but it ultimately made me a more well-rounded coach.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was 19/20 years old working at KFC as a shift manager. One night, I was closing with the cook; and he left this piece out that goes under the fryer which they filter the hot grease in. I was walking, tripped and fell right into it. I suffered 3rd and 4th degree burns, had to learn how to walk again, wasn’t eating and had a nasogastric g tube. With all that being said, the scarring and the discoloration of my legs left me feeling embarrassed and just really ashamed. It was to the point where I wouldn’t wear shorts. I can honestly now say it’s been a good 3-4 years since I have been comfortable in my own skin and yes wearing the shorts. Being resilient enough to push past the insecurities and to know there’s beauty in imperfection has put my life so much more at ease.
