We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Norelle Thevaos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Norelle below.
Alright, Norelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
Social media is a slippery slope for me. I see the immense value in it, but I do not like to dedicate the proper time to it. I go through spurts of posting more and pushing marketing efforts on social media, but then I find myself being pulled into “real life” work and family obligations.I recently hired someone to help me with branding and content creation for my IG. I know this area is an opportunity for me professionally and I want to maximize the potential.
It may seem scary to invest in social media, but it is money well spent based on everything I have experienced thus far.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Norelle, a seasoned makeup artist with 18 years of experience, discovered her passion during her college years.
What began as a part-time job, fueled by a lifelong fascination with beauty, blossomed into a dedicated career. Initially intended as a temporary pursuit before graduate school, her talent and love for the craft solidified her path, transforming a “side job” into a thriving profession.
I provide makeup lessons for individuals and groups. I also teach seminars for groups on topics ranging from quick makeup tips to more advanced skills. I am trained and provide airbrush makeup and traditional application.
Norelle’s artistry is distinguished by her extensive, elevated training with renowned global makeup artists and leading brands. This rigorous education has cultivated a deep understanding of technical skills, sophisticated color theory, and comprehensive product knowledge, setting her apart as a truly exceptional makeup professional.
I am most proud of my beautiful daughters first and foremost. Professionally, I am proud of the relationships I have built with my clients. Word of mouth referrals are the BEST compliment followed closely by repeat clients. These are invaluable to me. I want to know my client and do everything I can to make up feel your best.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The arrival of motherhood in 2020, amidst the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, prompted a significant shift my career. These major life events led me to reassess my work-life balance, resulting in a strategic pivot. I thoughtfully reduced my wedding client volume and redirected my focus to a more balanced approach, incorporating personalized one-on-one clients and makeup lessons alongside my wedding artistry. While this wasn’t an easy pivot, it has allowed me more balance and freedom to give both areas of my life the attention they deserve.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Norelle cultivated her strong market reputation through a combination of genuine connection and bold initiative. By actively engaging with like-minded business owners and fearlessly putting herself forward, she established valuable relationships. Early in her career, she embraced every opportunity, even unpaid ones like fashion shows, styled shoots, and collaborations. This “say yes” approach proved instrumental, opening numerous doors and laying the foundation for her successful career.
