Alright, Anastasia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Along with taking care of clients, taking care of our team is one of the most important things we can do as leaders. Looking back on your journey, did you have a boss that was really great? Maybe you can tell us about that boss and what made them a wonderful person to work for?

I started out as a bather in high school, then during college, wanted to become a groomer. When I tried to get access to go through school, my boss at the time did not think I had what it takes because they didn’t think I could do it. One reason they stated was that I was too emotional. After trying to convince them after, awhile, I grew tired and kept bouncing salons until I landed in Sterling Virginia with a great boss named Tanya! She saw what I saw in myself, and took the risk and let me go to school to become the groomer/business owner I am today! Once I came back, she allowed me to grow, and I ended up being a natural, where groomers would start asking me for advice during my first year! I believe that is when I started to realize I enjoy to teaching, I could not be where I am in the grooming world without her! So I strive to give chances like that to my employees as it’s hard becoming a groomer if you don’t have the right tools, salon or the people that believe in you.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Anastasia and I own a pet grooming business in the heart of downtown Cibolo which is near San Antonio! I have been in the industry for about 15 years and came to love it when I started learning about it in my Animal Science class in High School. I currently compete in grooming competition and won an award at GroomTexas in July of 2024! I strive to continue to learn so that I may be able to lead my groomers and to set an example for them to let them know that anyone and everyone can learn! Grooming is exciting and there’s always grooming continuing education to be learned.

Our salon provides one on one grooming where we do one client at a time as it helps pups who have anxiety around other pups and makes their experience more enjoyable and calming. Our products are also all natural based and top shelf.

Our quality and the ability to be patient with pups who have had bad experience a with other salons is top notch and is very well known for! We also have a package that has been proven to work for pups with anxiety!
One of our qualities that sets us apart from other grooming salons as well as our proudest characteristics is the way we communicate with our clients. We keep them up to date from the moment they walk into the door, to when their pups are being finished up as well as making sure their pups look great for them at checkout!

How’d you meet your business partner?

My husband was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He found a job up and Washington DC where he met me. I was a bather at the the time. We fell in love and he has been very supportive throughout my journey in the grooming world. After there was a couple of snowstorms, and not having access to to his sweet ice tea and whataburger, it was time to move back to San Antonio and that’s when The Grooming Coop started and became what it is today!

How did you build your audience on social media?

Most of our clients that come see us are very loyal, and have helped us grow by using word of mouth and hearing our pictures through social media. We have a lot of local groups on social media as well that allows us to use their platform to get the word out. We are always accepting new clients and are very happy to have the clients that we have. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today. So thankful for our clients and blessed to be able to watch their pups grow!
