Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Alexia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alexia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success isn’t always about talent or intelligence; it’s about perseverance. To be truly successful, you have to keep going, no matter how many setbacks you face. Life can throw challenges that test your resolve, but it’s the ability to push forward, to rise after falling, that defines success. At 21, I looked in the mirror and all I could see was a college dropout and a single mother who didn’t know what to do! When I looked at my son and turned to God, I found the strength to rise above any and all obstacles I had in my way. I was able to publish my very own book in the hopes of instilling self worth and confidence to all children while creating a legacy for my son. Outside of being an author, I still have dreams of running a childcare center. I was able to find resources to educate myself and earn the accreditation I needed to pursue the career and goals I wanted. Even in the hardest of times, I kept going-finding new ways to learn, grow, and build the future I envisioned for myself and family. Success isn’t a destination; it’s the strength to continue , to learn, to evolve, no matter the obstacles in your path. The most successful people are those who refuse to quit, who keep moving forward with grit and determination, even when the road gets tough.

Alexia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My story is one of love, growth, and purpose. Being a mother to my amazing son is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life- he inspires me everyday! My faith is the foundation for me, guiding me in both my personal and professional life. I’ve had a diverse journey in education and childcare; I attended public school and was homeschooled, which gave me a unique perspective on learning and socialization. Professionally I started off as a preschool teacher and worked my way up to Program Manager at a childcare facility where I am able to support children and educators. My love for books stemmed during the time I was homeschooled. When I had my son- my love for him, children, and reading led me to publish a children’s book! I am a genuine advocate for self love, confidence, and worth! As a parent, I know how important it is for children to grow up feeling confident, valued, and embraced for who they are. I wanted to create something that would inspire children to see their own uniqueness as a strength. Beyond my career, I love to read, listen to music, travel, and try new foods! My faith keeps me grounded. I truly appreciate where I am in life. I believe in always growing, evolving, and embracing every opportunity that life brings.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being a children’s author is incredibly rewarding because of the impact it has on young readers, their families, and those who want to pursue their dreams! There’s something truly special about knowing that the story I created resonates with children and adults. . I’ve received so many messages from parent’s and caregivers about how their children love the book or that it has made them think more positively about themselves; and that’s priceless. I’ve talked to others who were encouraged to pursue their own dreams after seeing me publish my book. Each message and interaction I receive reminds me of why I wrote the book in the first place: to make a difference. It’s not just about telling a story- it’s about creating something that can touch hearts, empower others. and help them develop a strong sense of self.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When my books weren’t selling as well as I had hoped, I initially saw it as a failure, especially because of my lack of marketing knowledge at the time. However, I quickly realized that this wasn’t a reflection of my ability or the value of my work—it was an opportunity to learn and grow. I had to unlearn the notion that success happens instantly and that setbacks equate to failure.
I dove into learning about marketing, seeking advice, attending webinars, and connecting with others in the field. With time, I began to understand how important it is to market my work strategically and how much of the process is about persistence and adaptation. That shift in mindset helped me see setbacks as stepping stones rather than roadblocks, and it ultimately led to better results. The experience taught me resilience and the importance of constantly evolving, whether it’s in writing, marketing, or any other area of life.
