We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chris Weaver. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chris below.
Chris, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope my legacy is about more than just the music—I want to be remembered for the connections I made, the experiences I created, and the people I helped along the way. Whether it’s through the songs I’ve written, the energy of a live show, or the opportunities I’ve created for other artists, I want to leave behind something that made a real impact.
I’ve been lucky to blend my passion for storytelling with performing, and I want people to remember that I put everything into it—every note, every lyric, every show. Music is about bringing people together, and if my career has done that, then I’ve done something right.
Beyond my own work, I want to be known for helping other musicians grow, whether through booking, artist development, or just sharing what I’ve learned along the way. If I can open doors for other artists the way people have for me, that’s a legacy worth leaving.
Chris, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been in music for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Grafton, West Virginia, I was surrounded by the sounds of Stax, Motown, classic rock, and country—music that told stories and made you feel something. My dad was a musician, and that influence stuck with me. But it wasn’t until I moved to Nashville in my early 20s that I realized this wasn’t just something I loved—it was something I had to do.
I started by grinding it out in honky-tonks and small venues, playing anywhere I could and connecting with other musicians. Over time, that hustle turned into something bigger—the Chris Weaver Band, a project that blends southern rock, country, blues, and soul into something that doesn’t quite fit in a single box, and that’s exactly how I like it. We’ve had the opportunity to perform all over the U.S. and even internationally in Brazil, which has brought a whole new layer to my music.
Beyond being an artist, I’ve built a successful career in the private and corporate event space, where I provide high-energy live entertainment for major events, private parties, and festivals. Through this, I’ve also developed a booking and artist development business, helping other musicians find opportunities and grow their careers. It’s one thing to play music for a living, but being able to help others do the same is something I’m truly proud of.
What sets me apart is the experience—whether it’s an original show, a corporate event, or a private party, I make sure every performance is high-energy, engaging, and leaves a lasting impact. I’m most proud of the fact that my career has been built on real relationships, real performances, and staying true to the kind of music I want to make.
At the end of the day, I want people to know that whether you’re a fan, a client, or another artist, I’m about creating something memorable—something that connects with people, makes them feel something, and gives them an experience they won’t forget.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is seeing how music connects with people in ways I never expected. Whether it’s someone telling me a song helped them through a tough time, or watching a crowd lose themselves in a performance, those moments remind me why I do this.
Music has a way of breaking down barriers—it brings people together, whether they’re from different backgrounds, speak different languages, or have completely different life experiences. Seeing that happen firsthand, whether it’s in a small, intimate setting or a packed festival, is something you can’t really put a price on.
On a personal level, the ability to create something from nothing—to take an idea, a feeling, or a moment and turn it into a song that resonates with people—is what keeps me going. It’s a mix of freedom, connection, and storytelling, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media has been a journey of trial and error, but the biggest takeaway for me has been the power of collaboration and authenticity. Early on, I realized that simply posting content wasn’t enough—you have to engage with people, give them a reason to connect with you, and align yourself with others who have a larger reach.
A huge part of my growth came from working with artists like Sorocaba, whose audience in Brazil is massive. That collaboration opened up a whole new world of fans who may have never heard my music otherwise. Whether it’s collaborating on a song, appearing on someone else’s content, or performing together, those moments introduce you to new audiences in a natural and exciting way.
For anyone starting out, my advice is:
1. Collaborate with artists and influencers who align with your sound and style. Their audience becomes your audience.
2. Be consistent. You can’t post once a month and expect growth. Show up regularly. This also doesn’t mean you have to
post every day. My problem with social media in this regard is the idea that it never ends once you start that’s why
Colabs can be a great benefit.
3. Engage with your followers. Reply to comments, ask questions, and make it feel like a real community.
4. Share behind-the-scenes moments. People love to see the process, not just the polished final product.
5. Stay true to yourself. It’s easy to chase trends, but your audience will connect with you more if you’re genuine.
Social media is about connection. The more you can make people feel like they’re part of your journey, the more they’ll stick with you and share your music.
