We were lucky to catch up with Nathalie Hennebert recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nathalie , thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
To design soulful environments that are intentional, story driven and globally inspired.
Where beauty, comfort, and functionality coexist—spaces that nurture connection, evoke emotion, and inspire daily living. This is more than design—it’s a lifestyle rooted in authenticity, transparency, and creativity.”
Personalization & Storytelling Matter to me
I’ve lived across continents, immersed in multiple cultures, and speak several different languages. I understand that everyone’s story is unique, and I want to bring that understanding to my designs. My mission reflects the desire to honor those stories through intentional, customized interiors—not cookie-cutter solutions. I want my clients to be seen and heard, so their space is a true extension of themselves and their story.
Global Inspiration Is in my DNA
With my international upbringing (Argentinian roots, French/Irish heritage), and having lived in England, New York, Sydney, Brazil, California — I don’t design in a bubble. I pull from a deep well of global aesthetics and design philosophies. My mission showcases that richness and gives clients access to something truly layered. My global lens brings depth and a fresh perspective to every project.
I Value Honesty, Connection, and Integrity
Honesty, transparency, and meaningful relationships are core to the process. My mission is important because it holds accountability to working in a way that aligns with my values—supporting clients, listening and building trust. It’s not just about designing beautiful rooms—it’s about creating lasting, respectful, and empowering partnerships.
Creativity Over Perfection
Perfection stifles creativity, and I thrive when challenges push me. My mission reflects that evolution—embracing fluidity, growth, and the beauty of imperfection in both design and life. It allows me to be real—with myself, with your clients, and with the creative process.
My mission isn’t just about designing interiors—it’s about creating an aesthetic universe. The mission becomes the guiding light that connects all of my design expressions under one philosophy.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Nathalie Hennebert, an interior designer and founder of Nathalie Hennebert Design. I’ve had a lifelong passion for aesthetics—from the delicate arrangement of a tablescape to the thoughtful organization of a room. Design has always been second nature to me: a blend of simplicity, beauty, and emotion.
Born and raised in Argentina to French and Irish parents, I’ve lived across the world—in England, New York, Australia, Brazil, and both coasts of the U.S. I speak Spanish, French, Portuguese, and English, which reflects the global lens I bring to my work. That international perspective isn’t just my background, it’s woven into the spaces I create. These experiences have shaped my aesthetic and deepened my understanding of how people live, what they value in their homes, and how culture influences comfort and function. That ability to connect with diverse ways of living has become a key ingredient in how I design—ensuring every space I create feels authentic, meaningful, and deeply personal.
My professional path wasn’t linear. I earned a degree in International Relations and spent over a decade in the corporate world before fully embracing my creative calling. That calling led me to study fashion at Parsons in New York and Color and Surface Design at ISCD in Sydney, which ultimately brought me to a Regional Visual Merchandiser role at Polo Ralph Lauren and a role in the design and construction team at Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Sydney. At CBA, the focus was on office environments, which gave me a completely new perspective on how thoughtfully designed spaces can support productivity, collaboration, and well-being. It deepened my understanding of how spatial design adapts to new ways of working—an insight I still carry into every project today.
In 2015, I officially launched Nathalie Hennebert Design with the mission of creating interiors that are intentional, story-driven, and globally inspired—where beauty, comfort, and functionality coexist. My work today primarily focuses on residential design. That said, I’m deeply drawn to the hospitality and commercial world and I am actively expanding into those areas.
With my background in workplace environments and my passion for lifestyle-focused design, I’m excited to bring the same sense of soul, purpose, and storytelling to boutique hotels, cafes, and thoughtful workspaces in the near future.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to adapt and follow my creative instincts—wherever they take me. Whether I’m designing a room, moving our family across continents, or setting an inspired table for dinner with friends, I see every moment as a chance to create beauty and connection. I’ve learned that perfection can stifle creativity, and that challenges often lead to the most innovative solutions. That mindset shapes not just how I design, but how I live.
One gift that was revealed through challenge is my natural intuition for spatial design—something that has consistently guided me, even in the most complex projects. It allows me to reimagine environments with clarity, flow, and purpose.
At the heart of it all, my work is about creating spaces where memories are made and cherished. It’s not just design—it’s a lifestyle. A reflection of identity. A place where story meets space.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’ve had to pivot many times in my career, business, and life—but one of the most defining moments came just after I got married. My husband and I tied the knot in Buenos Aires, and one month later, we packed up 2 suitcases each and moved to Sydney so he could pursue his MBA at UTS. It was a whirlwind, but it also felt like the perfect opportunity—a clean slate, a new chapter. Deep down, I knew this was my moment to finally leave the familiarity of the corporate world and finally allowing myself to explore the creative side
At the time, I had spent over a decade building a career in banking after earning my degree in International Relations. But once in Sydney, I took a job as a salesperson at Ralph Lauren—simply as a way to get settled and stay connected to style and aesthetics while figuring out my next step. Very quickly, though, my love for storytelling, organization, and visual flow started to shine through. I couldn’t help but rearrange displays, create little visual moments in the store, and think about how the environment could better tell the brand’s story.
Before long, I was offered the opportunity to take over the visual merchandising—and not long after that, I became the Regional Visual Merchandiser for Ralph Lauren and Polo Jeans across multiple locations. That shift opened up a whole new world for me. It wasn’t just about folding shirts or styling mannequins—it was about creating a narrative through space, and making people feel something when they walked in the door.
The pivot wasn’t easy. It meant starting over, proving myself in a new industry, and letting go of the comfort that comes with familiarity. But it also gave me the freedom to build something of my own—something meaningful, creative, and true to who I’ve always been.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the journeys that best reflects my resilience is the constant reinvention I’ve embraced throughout my life. Over the years, I’ve moved countries multiple times—often with young children, limited support systems, and no roadmap, just the belief that we could build something meaningful wherever we landed. From Argentina to England, Brazil, Australia, and the U.S. East and West Coasts—every relocation meant starting over, adapting to new cultures, new communities, and, in many ways, a new version of myself.
It all began in childhood. I was born and raised in Argentina, attending a French school in Buenos Aires. Then, in middle school, my father received a job offer that required us to move to England—and I arrived not speaking a word of English. It was a jarring shift, but it became the beginning of my deep appreciation for different cultures, languages, and ways of living. I learned to adapt quickly, to observe and listen.
That early experience shaped the way I’ve approached every move since—with openness, curiosity, and a sense of possibility. Each relocation has meant starting over: new homes, new schools for our kids, and often, rebuilding my professional path from the ground up, as I chose to step away for a while to focus on raising our young family.
When my husband and I considered moving, whether for work or new opportunities, I always said yes. Not because it was simple—but because I’ve learned to trust that we can create something beautiful wherever we go.
I’ve rebuilt, reimagined, and redefined what a creative life looks like—multiple times, in multiple places. Resilience isn’t just something I practice—it’s who I am.
And today, whether I’m designing homes, curating products, or stepping into the world of hospitality and commercial spaces, I carry that same strength and optimism forward. I’ve learned that life doesn’t come with a plan—but when you lead with passion and trust in yourself, the path becomes a little clearer.
