We were lucky to catch up with Helen Karadjian recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Helen, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I started Pampered Bee after the birth of my first child. As a new mom, I struggled to find products that were truly safe for my daughter’s eczema and sensitive skin. Every “clean” product I tried made things worse. That’s when I realized the baby care space was missing truly clean, organic options. I knew I had to create the solution myself. After years of research and testing, we became the first to launch a USDA Certified Organic Body Lotion made with food-grade ingredients. Seeing repeat customers and hearing from grateful parents confirmed I was on the right path—creating something meaningful for families like mine.

Helen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I never imagined I’d be in the industry I’m in today. My background is in finance—I spent years working in entertainment companies. But everything changed when I became a mom of three. My priorities shifted, and so did my purpose.
I’m the kind of parent who’s careful about everything—what goes on my kids’ skin, what they eat, how they grow. I’ve always believed in teaching them to live healthy and intentionally. But when I looked for truly clean, trustworthy products to use on their sensitive skin, every option left me disappointed. Labels were misleading, and even so-called “Natural” products irritated their skin.
That’s when I realized it was time to create something better—genuinely clean, organic products parents could actually trust.
So I started Pampered Bee—not as a business, but as a passion project. I spent years researching and working with my trusted Chemist to create safe, effective, truly clean baby care. What sets us apart is transparency: I want parents to know exactly what they’re using on their children. I want them to feel confident and supported—because I’ve been in their shoes.
What began as a side hobby became something much bigger. In September 2024, I was honored to receive the Golden Ticket at Walmart’s Open Call event—a life-changing moment for my brand. This win gave me the opportunity to bring Pampered Bee into Walmart stores. Starting July, our products will officially be on shelves in multiple stores nationwide.
It still feels surreal, but it’s a reminder that when you’re driven by love and purpose—especially as a parent—you can create something that truly makes a difference.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My story is definitely a unique one. I started this business as a passion project for my own children, so I launched with very minimal capital. I received incredible support—not financial, but emotional and hands-on—from friends and family who jumped in to help. I was lucky to have people around me who truly believed in my vision and supported me in getting Pampered Bee off the ground.
I’ve always worked full-time and never borrowed money, took out loans, or brought in outside investors. I wanted full ownership so I could grow the brand in alignment with my values. I invested my own time—many sleepless nights researching, designing, and developing my products. I’d work a full day, take care of my kids, then pick things back up once they were asleep. It wasn’t easy, but I loved every second of it because I knew I was building something meaningful.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Creating truly organic products has been a journey—one that taught me just as much as it challenged me. When I first started testing my formulas with family and friends, I got a lot of honest and sometimes tough feedback. People wanted stronger scents or creamier textures, not realizing those things often come from synthetic ingredients.
As a mom, I understood the desire for products that feel familiar—but I also knew I couldn’t compromise on safety. I created this line for kids like mine, with sensitive skin and big needs. So instead of giving in, I kept learning, kept tweaking, and took the time to share why I was doing things differently.
Five years later, I’m proud I didn’t give up—and even more grateful for the trust we’ve built with families who value the same things.
