We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sheba Empowers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sheba thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I love this question! When God gave me this idea in 2018, He said that it is first my ministry that turned into a business and brand! Sheba is an acronym; it a life mantra that has changed my life and the lives of others along my journey. It means: (SHE)s(B)etter(A)fter it ALL!
Everything that I do stems from that place—-it is all-inclusive!
In 2017, I experienced a marriage separation that shattered my heart, I was lost, hurt, disappointment, simply in a low place. SHEBA saved my life, it gave it a new meaning. My ministry allowed me to press into my purpose, which is to live life out loud, so other women are also able to discover this truth.
I first had to become it in order to duplicate it in others!
SHEBA is a mindset, an attitude, and a commitment to take charge of your life; turning pain to purpose, disappointment and discouragement into determination, and hurt into healing, in every aspect of the word!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
This question is LOADED! However, I will attempt to keep it as simple as possible!
Sheba, the Empowerment Queen is a Speaker, Author, and Songwriter; an unapologetic God-fearing woman who walks, talks and lives to empower others!
My mentor would call me a FIERCE Educator and Professional Development Coach. Grace sets me apart! Having the ability to be relevant at any table or on any stage has been the mark of my life, ministry and business.
People have said, “SHE IS JUST THE REAL DEAL!”
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Sharing is caring, right?
Social media is a great platform to use to build and grow your audience, create credibility and to be quite frank, if you are able to master it—-they will pay YOU! (Ask me how I know?)—-Ha! ha! Try to use ALL platforms and work what works!!!! Videos, posts, reels—-mix it up and do it all!
1. Consistency is key—-automate as much as you can, so that you can put your energy to the things that will keep your business running.
2. Network—-respectfully slide into DMs, join groups, engage, be authentic. I am not saying that you have to know everyone but pursue those who may be doing what you are doing or something similar. Remember, there is room for everyone, we collaborate, not compete!
3. Grace—-give yourself grace to grow and sometimes, recharge. Rome was not built in a day and neither will your following or business. If people see that you are a real person, they will connect naturally!
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Although, my team is intimate, I would love to share what I have learned about team building and building/maintaining high morale.
First, let me say that being a leader is challenging. It is probably the most challenging journey you will embark on in life.
When I was a Director at a childcare center, the greatest advice that I had received was to “Date your team!”
At first, I replied, “WHAT!”
Now, seven years later, although I am no longer in that position, I keep those words close to heart. Whatever you want to receive, you should be the first to give it and to keep giving it.
What makes you happy? Give to others!
What makes you smile? Do for others!
What makes you feel seen/valued? Double it for others!
What makes you feel motivated to give your all? You guessed it—-Do it for your team and KEEP doing it!
If it is a physical space, sometimes you have to change the aesthetics, the culture/climate of the place will change.
I walked into a building one time and said, the place is missing color and PLANTS—–it needs life. That was a game changer and guess what? It worked!
I can go on and on about this question but I believe what I have said is enough. For further insight, a one-on-one meeting would be needed.
