We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Pablo Groves. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Pablo below.
Alright, Pablo thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
We started our Non-Profit in 2021. We had no idea where God was going to take it or how He was going to use my family and I. We had already had our toes in Ministry and wanted more, but also wanted to do and go where God lead us. My family and I were currently living in a 3 bedroom apartment, and our children were growing! We needed a 4 bedroom so that our oldest could finally have his own room. Our family had been praying and praying for this. In the meantime, God put on my heart that I needed to cut hours from my work week. It definitely did not make sense. What really didn’t make sense, is God told me to cut out specific days. My most BUSIEST days. The days that I relied on for income to support my family. I held off. That was not a “risk” I was willing to take. But, the Lord Jesus Christ would not let up. It pressed on my heart even more. He told me, “GO DOWN TO 3 DAYS A WEEK!” Clear as could be. I finally listened. I took the “risk” and listened. Carving my schedule down to 3 days a week, and letting all of my clients know was a lot work. But, obeying Christ was most important.
Immediately after that, a 4 bedroom apartment became available for my family. We were on a list for several years waiting, and the call came that it was ready for move in! That one simple act of obedience, and we were immediately blessed with a 4 bedroom. A home right in the middle of the “projects” of Georgetown. Since then, the doors have been opening! We have started a Community Church right here in our neighborhood called, ‘Friday Night Christ’s’ (because it’s His) and have been blessed to Minister and counsel several families and children through it. Our property Manger gave us a key to the Community Center and said, “Why don’t you start a Church right here?”! My wife has started a ‘Kids For Christ’ every other Monday in our neighborhood where she has a Bible study, craft, and a snack. I will be starting a mens group, “Men For Christ’ on April 1st. It will be held every Tuesday evening. We have been blessed to hold fellowship parties at our home, potluck style. God has grown our Ministry, ‘PSJ Christ’s Xtreme Harvest Ministries since the move in 2022. We have served at many Outreaches/Events and we have organized many Outreaches/Events all over Texas and out of State, preaching, feeding, providing free haircuts, and sharing the Gospel every step of the way. We have been able to witness lives being transformed, salvations, and many Baptisms.
Serving along side with my family is more than words can express. It was no “risk” taking. It was an act of obedience and FAITH in Jesus Christ to be where we are today. Where we live, how we love, the people that cross our path, the places I have preached and being a witness to it all. The faith and obedience is every day. We step out in faith because we trust a big big God to guide our every step. No risks taken.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Cuts for Christ began years ago by providing free haircuts to the homeless in Downtown Austin, Texas. As a licensed Cosmetologist, it began to be more than that. Sharing the Gospel in my own shop to those that came in for a haircut was how it all began. Many relationships formed, scriptures discussed, and souls saved to Jesus Christ, right in my own SHOP! This soon expanded to Outreaches and Events. After attending my first Revival filled with Christian Hip- Hop Worship, preaching, testimonies, and an altar call. It was at that moment I had an idea to start bringing Cuts For Christ out. By bringing my Ministry to Outreaches and Events, I was able to cut hair for free once again to those in need and continue to share the Gospel to even more people. Since 2021, I have been able to Minister out of my chair at over 100 Outreaches/Events. Several of those I had the blessing of planning and putting together from beginning to end. It has truly been a blessing. I have also since been Licensed to the Gospel. Cuts For Christ has grown, and I am now able to bring out other stylists, barbers, students, and even my own son to cut hair. I was called to do Ministry at a very young age, and I am finally using my gifts, not only cutting hair, but Preaching God’s word and leading multiple people to Christ. This is where my non-profit began, PSJ Christ’s Xtreme Harvest Ministries Inc. To be a “People Sharing Jesus” in the most Xtreme areas and communities. Making people feel and look good with a variety of ways to meet physical needs. The goal is to change communities, watch people give their hearts to Christ and giving them life. What better way to bring Cuts For Christ underneath all of that! PSJ Christ’s Xtreme Harvest Ministries is now serving inner-city as well as traveling locally, state-wide, and nation-wide to pursue His purpose in casting the net for lost souls. My family and I not only travel and serve at other Outreaches/ Events, we have had many opportunities to plan and put together our own in poverty stricken areas, schools, and a Juvenile facility. The day of each service, it is a day filled with free haircuts, free food, sharing the Gospel, worship music with many genres, and ending with prayer, preaching, and an altar call. All to meet needs physically and spiritually. Most of these Outreaches/Events are open to the public and are widely advertised through social media and paper flyers. In the past 3 years, I have had many opportunities to preach leading 300+ people to Christ with many baptisms. PSJ Christ’s Xtreme Harvest has recently introduced I(saiah)-35 Corridor. With I-35 Corridor, we are able to expand the vision and open it up even more to those that would like to utilize their own special gifts to serve. All up and down the corridor, particularly the triangle. My family and I have started a ‘Friday Night Christ’s’ community church in our community that is open to all walks of life. Worship, prayer, baptisms, sharing of the Gospel, and a word from myself, Pastor Pablo Groves. This is just the beginning and proof of how amazing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is, and the fruit that can be produced when following in obedience while using your God given gifts. I cannot wait to see what Jesus Christ has in store for the
future of PSJ Christ’s Xtreme Harvest Ministries and all the other Ministries that come with it. A small idea, a heart tug from Jesus, lots of prayer, a calling to the Ministry at a young age, obedience to God’s word and voice, many tears, lots of hard work, and much much more has given me an opportunity to begin my own Ministry. The main goal is to PREACH the GOSPEL and WIN SOULS to CHRIST!
Have you ever had to pivot?
This would definitely take me back to when God told me to cut my hours down from my job, and do more Ministry. Taking that leap of faith and obeying Jesus. Not, knowing how I would make enough income to provide for my family was a reality, and I could not make sense of it. I listened. I was obedient. Then, I immediately understood God’s plan. He would provide EXACTLY what our family needed and He would use us in every way possible for the Kingdom.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My goal is not to build an audience on social media. I abuse social media to share the Gospel. I preach every morning, Preaching 101, on Facebook. The goal is to watch people give their hearts to Christ!!!
