We recently connected with Tyler Cabrinha and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Most of the things ive done in my life took risks, and I believe if your not willing to take them you will never reach goals you may have! I had to risk a lot to become a tattoo artist and sacrifice a lot as well, But for all the risks I took and failed on, the ones that succeeded were exponentially greater than those fails! So many good things in life come out of risks and once u learn to overcome the fear associated with taking them your life and goals will take taking shape.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Im a tattoo artist and buisness owner of my shop Hybiscus Tattoo and piercing. I create art permanently with a team of talented individuals that I consider ohana. In this craft you must have high standards for many things, from the art, customer service, and the knowledge to give our clients the best results and experience they can have! What we do for clients is very personal most times and changing the body wether getting tattooed or getting pierced is always a big deal and what makes me so proud is my team at Hybiscus understands this and respects each client and the body and just want people to feel good in their own skin.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy I’ve had in my career for gaining clientele has always been doing the best work I can possibly do. Working my butt off on the art and studying my craft to create the best tattoos I can has always had the most positive results. Client’s that get amazing work always talk about it and show it to other people who then again gain you more clients and even with social media websites and advertising word-of-mouth has always been the best bread and butter in getting my name out. There are no shortcuts just hard work and it always pays off.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I Have come to learn in the years owning a shop and having a team is to appreciate and work with them, Listen to your workers. A lot of owners try to control their employees and I know that is a failing ingredient. It’s also good to reward your team not just on holidays show them appreciation, especially when they are doing amazing work!
