Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Rolla. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jessica , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.

I took a big risk to move across the country from the big city of Chicago or Midwest Illinois to here to the quieter mountains here in Northwest Las Vegas or area called Centennial Hills by a nice area called Summerlin in November of 2023.

I was raised and educated in Chicago and the suburb of Darien Illinois with a robust career as a Nanny /Tutor under Datenightboutique luxury caregiver agency and busy Brand ambassador covering a lot of store and tradeshow events .
I also was wanting to make a bigger west coast move to develop my on camera and tradeshow work here w/ existing and new clients.
I had challenges getting here due to Covid pandemic limiting open property viewings w/ our realtor, and also my mother at the time was dying of cancer.
However, with the help of my family and hired caregivers, more friends /agents here willing to give me the career opportunities to try out Las Vegas July – September 2023, the timing was there for me to take the risk.
We also had our Chicago Edgewater apartment we had to find a new tenant to sublease or eventually found the perfect family to take it over in early December 2023 .
Truth be told, the passing of my mother occurred October 1 of 2023 and after that , things moved faster..I was able to work out finding my dream house while working Vegas tradeshows and being approved w/ my husband to move to our new house sooner.
We packed 24 boxes to send via the US Post office, had our SUV car shipped by Thanksgiving 2023
and I was forever grateful for taking this risk and making a new blessed life choice.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I can say I chose an unconventional career – some may call it ” Jack of all trades” or being ” Full – time Freelance” .
I have the ability to contract as a steady Brand ambassador for event work. I always been very good doing different ‘ gig work” of also taking care of children, as a Nanny, being a print /commercial model and on camera video host .
I guess I grew my brand ambassador experience or what they used to call ” Promotional event modeling” with just
saying yes.
I also fell into doing heavy tradeshow work 25 years ago in Chicago and garner long- term national touring contracts .
I am most proud of my bigger clients like Toyota auto , Xm Satellite, and Whole Foods stores.
I am great with the public as a friendly face to introduce new brands with sampling products, collecting business cards or
generating leads digitally or feedback from potential or real clients/customers.
I am excellent w/ sales being trained initially by managers or learning online product information or memorizing scripts before presenting brands at events .also on camera for live stream or commercial video /on camera. too.

I am quick on my feel , have the ability to work overtime up to 12-16 hour shifts at a time ,work well w/ others and can travel well by car, train, bus, plane or foot upon notice. .

I believe what sets me apart from others is my positive enthusiasm dealing w/ clients , my energy and ability to deal w/ many types of personalities .

I have also have a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising degree w/ a double minor in Business Adminstration and Fashion Design from Dominican University in River Forest Illinois I am proud of having too w/ being a full time former Marketing /PR events Director for years at John Robert Powers Academy. This is where I managed youth talent for summer /weekend and holiday events and other school aged children to develop their Life skills, professional Acting & Modeling to perform for national weekend showcases.

Have you ever had to pivot?

During the earlier part of Covid pandemic 2020-2022, I had to pivot from working in an office or even being w/ real people as much in person and change my work .
Since I was living in Illinois, and the State was encouraging most people to work from home, or limit one’s exposure to people in person, I chose to become a Full – time weekday Nanny/Tutor for 2 children in Highland park, Illinois.
This was under Datenightboutique.com Luxury caregiver agency who required me to get Covid tested negative first before
signing my Nanny contract for about a year .
By pivoting to this Nanny job, I was not accepting any office or teaching work outside of working with this one family.
I did do some Zoom.us teaching on some Saturdays and when the Covid vaccine was released later in 2021-22, I did pivot back to more public jRPChicago teaching work traveling cities in a face mask only on the weekends.

This helped my ability to be more patient, read books more on my downtime and learn to use my tech skills w/ Zoom.us and more computer use and be more remote.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I have a particular goal that drives my current journey as a working actor and brand ambassador here in Las Vegas.
I would like to gain steady or more exclusive contracts with bigger clients as a Live event host and be on -camera .
Given my growth using a ringlight to my iPhone for repeated remote self tape video audition submissions
and building my resume w/ continual jobs here, this drives me … I also find that building my confidence
to keep trying out for new projects by just doing the auditions or get the right training too weekly helps in itself.
I also am fearless of rejection or trying new ways to find clients to get me on camera or work higher profile events.
