Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to CedLyfe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
CedLyfe, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned how to slide the way I do by trial and error. Alot of trying to sound like this or that. I kept trying different shit until I figured out exactly how I wanted to sound. I think a basic knowledge of mixing/EQing is one of the most essential skills I’ve picked up along the way. I used to be clueless to that side of things. I think the biggest obstacle for me has always been the technology. I’m smooth in real life but I’m terrible with computers.

CedLyfe, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been behind the scenes for a while now. At First, I’d make beats for my friends, and they’d drop hot shit on them until one by one they dropped off the map & I had to pick up the pieces. Since my birthday, every month I provide listeners with a new banger for them to vibe to produced by yours truly. What I think sets me apart from others is my obsession with getting better and moving forward, bending sounds ways no one has thought of yet, and my ability to make it BOUNCE. I think I’m most proud of my ability to adapt and soak up what people are putting down. Alot of rappers don’t really listen, they just wait their turn to say what they want to say & that’s it. I’m always listening to new shit, seeing which direction the industry is going so I can flip what they’re doing and make it my own. The main thing I’d tell readers and potential fans is “fasten your seatbelts”, I’m dropping a new record every month until shit shake.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’ve had a list of artists I’ve been dying to work with since I started. Once I get the feature from them, I’ll be satisfied. My mission is to get on the radar of the people I look up to. The T.I.’s the 2 Chainz, the Biebers but the sky is the limit & god is good.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me the biggest reward has always been the reaction on their faces when it clicks. Like “Damn I didn’t expect all that” or when i see them vibin out dancin to my shit. the only thing better than that is the cook up. right after I produce some hot shit, I’m in the whip brainstorming on how I’m going to slide. That shit is electric
