We were lucky to catch up with Montse recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Montse thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been drawn to creativity. It has always felt like a space of total freedom—where the mind opens up, where there are no limits. I truly believe that a creative person finds inspiration everywhere, in the smallest details of life.
I started my journey in Fine Arts, which gave me a strong foundation to explore different forms of artistic expression. Over time, I naturally gravitated toward sculpture, working on commissions for clients and showcasing pieces in exhibitions. From there, my passion evolved into ceramics, where I discovered a beautiful balance between form, texture, and functionality.
Looking back, there wasn’t a single defining moment—rather, it was a continuous unfolding of creativity, curiosity, and the need to create with my hands. Each project, each material, and each challenge reaffirmed that this was the path I was meant to follow.
Montse, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
At Ceramics MIM, we create handcrafted ceramics inspired by the beauty of Mallorca. Our work blends craftsmanship, tradition, and contemporary design, offering both custom-made tableware and one-of-a-kind pieces that elevate everyday moments. Each piece is carefully designed to bring warmth and authenticity to a home, turning simple rituals—like setting the table or enjoying a meal—into something special.
My journey into ceramics began as an extension of my passion for sculpture and the tactile nature of working with my hands. Over time, I became fascinated by the way ceramics can connect people to their surroundings, to nature, and to the joy of everyday rituals. Mallorca, with its textures, landscapes, and light, has always been a deep source of inspiration, and that essence is reflected in every piece we create.
What sets us apart is the intentionality behind each creation—whether it’s a custom set designed for a restaurant or a unique vase for a collector, every item carries a sense of place and purpose. We believe that handmade ceramics have the power to transform a space, adding character, warmth, and a story to every home.
I’m most proud of seeing how our pieces become part of people’s daily lives, how they bring joy to small moments, and how they help create meaningful experiences. For those who appreciate craftsmanship, authenticity, and the beauty of imperfection, Ceramics MIM is an invitation to slow down, to enjoy the details, and to surround yourself with pieces that have soul.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Supporting artists and fostering a thriving creative ecosystem requires valuing craftsmanship, creativity, and the stories behind handmade work. This can be achieved by investing in art through purchases and exhibitions, promoting education to deepen appreciation, providing spaces for creation, ensuring fair compensation, and embracing mindful consumption over mass production. By recognizing the significance of art in daily life, we contribute to a more inspired, connected, and culturally rich society.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is knowing that our ceramics become part of people’s daily lives. Creating objects that are not only beautiful but also functional—pieces that people touch, use, and integrate into their routines—gives our work a sense of purpose and connection. It’s fulfilling to know that something we shape with our hands can bring warmth, ritual, and meaning to someone’s home.
