We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kurtis Patterson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kurtis below.
Alright, Kurtis thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
My first client came from an unexpected opportunity while working at a cabinet company as a painting employee. Their social media manager had recently left, and I saw a gap that I could fill with my expertise in content production and social media management. I approached the owner, pitched my skills, and just like that, I landed my first client. That experience reinforced my belief in seizing opportunities and using my skill set to provide value wherever I can.

Kurtis, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey into media production started with music. I come from a music background, and in high school, I found myself naturally drawn to the creative side of things—producing videos, recording music, and handling all the media work for my own band. What started as a necessity quickly became a passion, and over time, I honed my skills in photography, videography, sound production, and digital marketing.
That foundation led me to launch Rosetint Media, where I provide professional photography, videography, event coverage, and artist development services. I work with independent creatives, businesses, and event organizers to capture moments, tell compelling stories, and help them market themselves effectively. Whether it’s producing high-quality content for social media, handling full-scale event coverage, or crafting engaging promotional material, my focus is on delivering visually striking and strategically valuable media.
What sets me apart is that I approach media production from the perspective of a musician and creative first. I understand the challenges artists and brands face in building an audience because I’ve been in those shoes. That allows me to create content that not only looks great but also connects on a deeper level with the people it’s meant to reach.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built through my work—whether it’s helping an artist bring their vision to life or giving a business the content they need to grow. At the end of the day, Rosetint Media is about empowering creatives and fostering imagination, and that’s what I want people to take away from my work.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Reflecting on my entrepreneurial journey, one invaluable resource I wish I’d known about earlier is the SCORE mentorship program. SCORE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, expert mentoring to small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs across the United States. With a network of over 10,000 volunteers, SCORE offers guidance in various aspects of business development, including financing, human resources, and business planning.
Engaging with a SCORE mentor could have provided me with personalized advice and insights tailored to the challenges I faced in establishing my business. Their mentors, who are experienced professionals, offer area-specific advice at no cost via email, telephone, and video, making their support both accessible and convenient.
For anyone starting or growing a business, I highly recommend exploring the resources and mentorship opportunities that SCORE provides. Their commitment to fostering small business success through education and mentorship is unparalleled, and tapping into their network can be a game-changer for entrepreneurs at any stage.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission has always been to make high-quality media production accessible to independent creatives. I know firsthand how tough it can be to build a brand, promote your work, and create professional-level content when you’re working with limited resources. When I started out, I had to learn everything—photography, videography, editing, marketing—just to make sure my own projects had the media they needed. It was a long, difficult process, and I know many other artists and creatives are facing those same struggles today.
That’s why I built Rosetint Media—to provide affordable, professional media solutions for artists, musicians, and businesses who need great content but don’t have the budget of a major label or corporation. I want to take some of that burden off independent creatives so they can focus on their craft without having to do all the behind-the-scenes work alone. At the end of the day, my goal is to help others avoid the struggles I went through and to empower them with the tools and media they need to grow.
