We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jordan Broome a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
I am so thankful for the parents I have been blessed with. They always instilled in my brothers and I that we could do anything. I never felt limited in what I could do for my career path or in any aspect of life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Ever since I can remember, I have been doing some type of creative medium. From drawing, to playing musical instruments such as the violin or drums there was always something I was doing creatively.
More specifically, I got into cinematography when I had an internship with the Carolina Panthers after attending Johnson C Smith University (HBCU). There I was able to get first hand experience working with seasoned professionals.
After the internship was over, a few years passed my girlfriend, who is my wife purchased my first camera. It took me several years to hone my creative style and I am still developing.
I filmed a documentary for a local high school team who ended up winning a state championship. While filming games and curating the documentary and social media projects, it was at that point I KNEW this is what I am supposed to be doing.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal of my particular journey is to retire my parents. I want to pay them back for all of their love and guidance.
My family is extremely important and I would love to vacation with them at the drop of dime.
Everything I do is for the greater good of me and my loved ones.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is when people see the final product they are very happy and overwhelmed with joy.
I put a lot of work into every project and seeing the clients or viewers gratification, is indescribable.
