We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Connie Morrill a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Connie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
My story is complex and emotional. I was a professional dancer for over 20 years, retired moved out of state, going trough a divorce, and started a whole new life. I went from dancing and choreographing, teaching musical theatre to young adults to moving to a state where I had to start all over trying to make a living. I was a card dealer for 4 years trying to make some money to pay my way back home. I became involved in a relationship there and moved to another state where I finally had the opportunity to teach dance again and met a wonderful women at a workout class who believed in me and sponsored me for my first fitness license. I moved again to another state where I became very involved in the fitness industry and was blessed to have people believe me and give me a chance. I then became triple certified in fitness a Master Trainer and Presenter. I opened my own studio, which I had for 14 years and have moved again and now I am growing my fitness business on my own. It has been an incredible journey and I have wonderful clients, an incredible husband and living my best life. I was asked once “how bad to you want it?” I have never given up and have fought to achieve all I have.
Connie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been in the fitness field for well over 25 years, I have been certified in Fitness, Spin, Pilates, Stability Ball
I have a true passion for watching people grow and get fit, stay strong and always remember it is never too late to start a fitness journey. I am all in on sharing my expertise, passion and experience to all. I focus on safety, post and pre op, cross training. I am most proud of being able to continue to do what I do at 76 years old, being with a husband I truly adore for 30 years and sharing my knowledge wherever I can.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I would absolutely choose the same profession!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I believe the most effective strategy for my clientele is giving the best service I can, paying attention to their concerns and issues. I know that the best way I have found to grow my business is word of mouth, when people believe in you and want to share that with others is worth all its weight in gold.
