We recently connected with Trayvond Whitworth and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Trayvond, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Back in 2017 I was asked to take pictures for my brother’s 31st birthday. I didn’t have a camera or know the first thing about photography but I still agreed. I used his cell phone and a $10 tripod I brought from microcenter. We got out there and just went for it. I told him to pose and it all just clicked from there. I saw the excitement on his face as he looked at all the pictures. The excitement on my parents faces as they viewed every picture we took. That was the moment I realized that this is what I was born to do. This was my purpose. This is how Tdwphotography was born. I was able to capture memories and make people’s vision a reality. I get to make sure they can experience the moments that made them happy forever! I love being able to capture the moments that mean the most so that those moments can be shared with the people who mean the most.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Trayvond whitworth. Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland and the last of 5 kids. I love cartoons and superhero movies but most of all I love being able to make people happy through my work. I started photography in 2017 and I haven’t stopped taking pictures since. I truly believe that humility will take you a long way in life. I also believe that I am always able to learn something new and that’s why I always strive to become better as a photographer. When it comes to my clients I believe in bringing you happiness while also being fair and reasonable in my prices. I want to make sure at the end of your photoshoot that you are happy and so are your pockets.
Over that past few years I’ve grown a lot as a photographer. Constantly learning and constantly striving for improvement. As much as I learn and practice I couldn’t do any of this without the amazing support system I have behind me. my support system mean the world to me. They have encouraged me to keep going from day one and they haven’t stopped pushing me to be better.
I hope after reading this readers will know that I am in to photography because It means more to me than just money. When I take photos I get to capture beauty, smiles, laughs, and memories that will last a life time. Capturing smiles and confidence makes my heart happy!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn when it comes to photography is that every photo needed to be dark, edgy and mysterious. When I got in to photography watching all my favorite photographers I tried to make every picture I took look like something they took. I spent so much time trying to duplicate their work that I never stopped to create my own style. Once I started creating my own style and taking pictures how I wanted everything changed!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what helped me build my reputation within the market is consistency. There was a period of time where I just wouldn’t leave the house without my camera. I took it with me to the store, church, gatherings, restaurants just so that I could make sure I could capture something to share with the world. The more pictures I took the more I was able to learn and share with my audience. I made it a point to make sure that I had content to share so when it came time for people to ask about me through word of mouth there was always something to show so that way my work could speak for itself.
