We were lucky to catch up with I M A X B recently and have shared our conversation below.
I M A X B , appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My hero is the younger version of myself a few years ago. I consider the younger version of myself my hero because that younger version shows me how much I’ve grown and how much I need to progress to reach the level that I’m capable of reaching.
A few lessons that I’ve learned from my younger self:
– Failure doesn’t define me it directs my focus to where it needs to be.
– As I desire more from life , I have to desire more of GOD in my life.
– Im not macho man and I can’t do this alone, its ok to ask for help.
– I have to keep my ego in check, I don’t know everything.
– Starting all over again , but with wisdom and GOD is an underrated blessing.
The reasons listed above are only a small portion of the lessons I’ve learned. These lessons have influenced my actions and my mindset. I don’t shy away from failure anymore I understand that its all apart of the process and its making me better as I question what went wrong. These lessons have also influenced my level of self-awareness. I point all fingers to myself before I look for something to blame. I ask myself ” What role did I play in this situation ? ” I also ask , ” Did any of my personal actions cause an undesired outcome ?” When I ask myself these questions I come to find out that there were something’s that I could have done better, so I get back up with new wisdom and courage and try again.

I M A X B , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My actual name is Brandon Jacobs , I am a 23 year old aspiring film director and an Atlanta based photographer.
I always loved telling stories. I hated writing , but at the same time I had a passion for it if the topic was interesting. I love high quality photos and videos , they always catch my eye and grab my attention. I realized that if I locked in and invested in myself one day I can create stunning images and emotion touching films.
For the business side of what I do , I’d say about 2 years ago I started to gravitate away from a hobbyist mindset and i transitioned to a business mindset with how I do things. Anyone that has went through a transition knows that new problems arise and I had a lot of inner work to do. I realized that I am my business. If I’m not operating correctly, how can my business? When I recently took a step into the full time world , I quickly realized that the level of discliplne entrepreneurship takes is challenging , but very achievable. One baby step at a time , I can’t rush.
I provide video and photos based upon the clients needs. I try to be a Swiss army knife in the industry, but still stay true to my desired style.
The biggest problem I try to solve for clients is helping them exceed what they believe is possible.
What I think sets me apart from others is the level I’ll go to , to try and understand what my client wants. I always try to exceed my clients expectations when they make a demand. I try to make the first draft of anything the final version. I try my best to get it right the first time. Another thing I think sets me apart is I look at the artist I work with from the perspective of an audience and I incorporate my skills as a visual artist to help the artist understand themselves.
I’m most proud of the courage I had to take risk and push through the days that I thought I’d never pick my camera up again.
The thing that I want the most is to have a platform that can provide opportunities to change other peoples lives. I want to be able to bring other directors along side me , book cosmetologist for months because I need their expertise in their industry for a film I’m working on. Book out a modeling/ acting agency for months to get their help with my film because I need actors, etc.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I think a scenario that illustrates my resilience is that I invested thousands into my craft even when I had no bookings for months. There were times when I legit thought it was over for me and what I do, but I decided to keep pushing and make investments. The investments that I make allow me to be prepared when the right opportunity presents itself. I don’t wait for conditions to be favorable , I ask GOD for favor during unfavorable conditions, this is what builds and demonstrates my resilience .
When other people skip over me its illustrates my resilience as well . I’ve had more people pass over me than book me and it keeps the fire burning to become the best at what I do.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is the ability to go out and create anything I want anytime an idea strikes. My mind is constantly assesing the world around me for inspiration to create something better than before. I control my schedule so I can be in position to receive opportunities.
The only limits are the ones I place on myself.
