We were lucky to catch up with Megan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Megan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Any advice for creating a more inclusive workplace?
Inclusion isn’t about checking a box – it’s about creating a culture where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to thrive. Our biggest piece of advice would be to have an open mind, be intentional, and actively listen. Representation matters and diversity at all levels (especially leadership) signals that inclusion isn’t just a talking point. It’s also extremely important to create and foster safe spaces that celebrate individuality.
As someone who has been a part of environments where (unfortunately) diversity was an afterthought, I have seen how non-inclusive work cultures can affect people’s confidence and opportunities. On the flip side – we are trying to consciously create environments where we are celebrating culture and inclusivity with everything that we do. When you feel like you belong, that energy transforms into productivity and creativity!
All in all, creating a more inclusive workplace starts with intentionality, accountability, and continuous learning! Take the time to be intentional and do the work and you will see the positive impacts all around you.

Megan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Mango Spice is more than just an art brand – it’s a celebration of culture, creativity, and connection. We are Megan and Anna, two BIWOC artists with a passion for storytelling through design, our small business brings a vibrant perspective to art prints, illustrations, and greeting cards.
We believe that art should reflect the people who create and enjoy it. That’s why every piece we make is infused with diversity, inclusion, and a playful spirit. Whether it’s a greeting card that speaks to the heart, an illustration that sparks joy, or a print that brightens up a space, each creation carries the Mango Spice touch – bold, meaningful, and full of life.
Our collections celebrate our own cultures and the beautiful, diverse communities around us. We embrace the uniqueness of our heritage, our friendships, and the stories that shape us. No more settling for generic designs – our work brings representation, personality, and a whole lot of fun into everyday moments.
While many believe that greeting cards are usually just for holidays, we’re firm believers that sometimes you don’t need a special occasion to tell someone how special they are to you. When words fail you, let our cards help you do the talking!
Mango Spice is for those who want art that speaks to them, greeting cards that feel personal, and gifts that make an impact.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We’ve known eachother since the ripe age of 4 years old! We’ve always been by each other’s side over the years and built a beautiful friendship. From watching each other go through our best and worst moments, there was always a strong comfort in knowing we had each other’s backs.
Mango Spice was born shortly after the pandemic. As we both loved illustrations and being creative – we were looking for a hobby that celebrated us, our friendship, and finding something new to share together. After many Facetimes, long walks in the park, and late night food runs – a brand new printer and was in our Staples cart. We love giving and receiving cards and funny enough, we’d been doing creative DIYS for years anyways! Besides, we grew up in Toronto, ON and have always been surrounded by so many diverse communities and cultures. It was only a matter of time…

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Other than maintaining our social media platforms, local markets & pop-ups have played a massive role in connecting with customers in person, showcasing our pieces, and building strong brand loyalty. We’re also very lucky to have a supportive circle so our friends and family spreading the word about us has been really helpful. Last but not least, collaborations and partnerships with other businesses or influencers is something that we are trying to continue pushing and will help introduce us to new audiences!
