We recently connected with Alex Nuñez Caba and have shared our conversation below.
Alex, appreciate you joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
It’s a collection of skills that I’ve cobbled together along the way. And they all end up informing each other to some degree on different projects. I try to do the best job I can with anything and everything I do. I aim to challenge myself and do just a little more with each new thing. My biggest obstacle is usually myself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the film and tv industry through a friend. My visual arts background made me a good fit for it.
It’s story telling, world building, creating scenic illusions, etc. Giving further depth to whatever and whoever is in a script.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Some people have called me talented, and that they wish they had certain artistic talents.. But really its all mostly just a lot of work and repetition. At some point I wasn’t very good at these things, but after doing them over and over again you get better and develop the “talent.” Anyone with tough skin and drive can do it.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
If you are genuinely interested: go to shows, screenings, readings, concerts, gallery openings; however big or small. Show up when you can and engage.
