Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dre Lamonte. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dre, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
When I first started working on one of my businesses, it was nothing more than an idea. One day, eager to get out of the house, I decided to visit a friend who had just launched their own business at their parents’ flower shop. Since I didn’t have a car at the time, I walked seven miles to get there, feeling an undeniable pull to go, though I wasn’t sure why.
Once I arrived, I shared with my friend how much I wanted to start a clothing brand but felt stuck—not knowing where to begin or how to fund it. One of the flower shop employees overheard our conversation, walked over, and handed me some cash, saying, “Go start your business.” I was completely shocked and moved by this unexpected act of generosity. At the time, I was couch surfing, and this simple gesture not only gave me the strength I needed but also planted the seed of possibility. It was a turning point, igniting my passion for pursuing what I believe I’m meant to do: create.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m originally from Los Angeles, though I grew up in the Inland Empire, which has significantly shaped who I am today. It was there that the foundation for much of what I do now was laid. Since I was young, I’ve always felt a strong calling to help people, particularly in the way they think. At just 10 years old, I found myself having meaningful conversations with adults twice my age, offering guidance and insight that seemed to come naturally. This led me to pursue speaking, mentorship, and even starting a clothing brand, all centered around communication and conveying impactful messages.
Many of the challenges we face as people often begin in the mind. Our thoughts are like fuel, much like gas powers a car—our thoughts fuel our bodies and actions.
One of my proudest moments happened during a radio interview. A caller reached out and shared that they had been contemplating ending their life. They told me, “If I hadn’t heard your voice today, I wouldn’t be here. Everything you said this morning helped me choose life.” That experience is something I’ll always carry with me, as it affirmed the power of words and the importance of the work I do.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A major lesson I had to unlearn is the idea that being a creative means doing everything on my own. Early on, I believed that to protect my vision, I had to rely solely on myself, often isolating and becoming overly independent. I struggled with letting others in, even when they had the skills or perspective to help me achieve better results than I could on my own.
The turning point came when I began working with my creative director and an incredible team. Their input and expertise not only enhanced my work but also showed me the value of collaboration. I realized that creativity thrives in community and that trusting others with parts of the process can actually elevate the entire project. If it weren’t for their contributions, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
One of my favorite sayings sums it up perfectly: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Learning to trust others, lean on their strengths, and embrace collaboration has allowed me to achieve far more than I could have imagined on my own. It’s a lesson I’m grateful to have unlearned.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of what I do is the ability to unlock, inspire, and transform people—not so they can know me, but so they can truly discover who they are, what they’re capable of, and the potential that lies within them. I see it like this: a door opens other doors. Every person is a door to someone else’s opportunity or growth. If we don’t step fully into who we’re meant to be, how can we hope to impact the world around us?
For me, it’s about much more than personal success; it’s about empowering others to step into their own greatness. My mission is simple but profound—to awaken people to their true identity and purpose. When we do that, the ripple effect is endless. As I live in my purpose, I want the light in me to illuminate the path for others, guiding them to become who they were created to be. That’s the legacy I want to leave—one of transformation, empowerment and faith.
