We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Emily Que a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Emily , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
How OGA Started: A Love Story (Sort Of)
It all started with one big question: Why are relationships so hard, even when there’s love?
One day, I looked at my five-year relationship and realized… things just weren’t the same. The passion, the connection—it was all starting to fade. No matter what I tried, nothing seemed to work. And let’s be honest—when your relationship is struggling, it affects everything: work, sleep, mental health.
So, I tried therapy. But it didn’t quite get to the heart of my intimacy issues. Next, I went on a hunt for a “sex therapist,” “couple therapist,” and relationship coach… but ran into another wall. Where do you even find the right experts? Unlike therapy, there wasn’t an easy way to connect with people who specialize in sex and relationships.
That’s when I went into full research mode. Attachment styles, intimacy psychology, Esther Perel, Erotic Blueprints—you name it, I was soaking it all in. I started working with sex therapists, relationship coaches, and couples therapists I found through friends, social media, and organizations like AASECT. I realized most people didn’t even know these resources existed.
Then, everything clicked.
Through coaching, I learned to understand my unconscious patterns in selecting partners, my triggers, and how my past shaped my behavior in relationships. Turns out, conflict isn’t a sign of a doomed relationship—it’s an opportunity to become more self-aware, resolve deep-seated wounds, and grow.
I started talking to more people—singles, couples—and realized: we’re all struggling with relationships in some way. But getting real, actionable advice is tough. And while so many people need help, the coaches and therapists who could offer it struggled to find clients.
So, I created OGA—a platform that makes relationship and intimacy coaching easy to find and accessible to everyone. Whether you’re dating, in a long-term relationship, or just trying to better understand yourself, OGA connects you with the right coach.
Because relationships shouldn’t be this hard—they are a powerful vehicle for healing.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Originally from Shanghai and now based in New York, I have a background in economics and data science. I began my career in finance but transitioned to product management because I’m passionate about creating and building creative solutions that solve real problems. I’m passionate about creating technology-driven products that make people’s lives easier and bring them more happiness.
I created OGA—a platform that makes relationship and intimacy coaching easy to find and accessible to everyone. Intimacy and relationship issues shouldn’t be stigmatized; they should be affordable and accessible to all.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started my career in finance, but I’ve always had a strong urge to build and create. This passion led me to transition into technology product management.
