We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Alex-Eon Cox a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alex-eon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Yes I am happy as an artist.
I do often think what life would be like with a regular job.
I don’t want a regular job forever, just long enough to be financially stable.
I always think about life in this way. I am worried about not being successful. It’s really hard to be an artist full time. Art is one of those careers that doesn’t have alit if linear markers of success. Therefore, I often time find myself settling for jobs and degrees that are less interesting to me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi I am Alex-eon Cox, and I also go by noexelathecreator which is my first name backwards. I got into to art very young. I have always loved creating, it is one of my many therapeutic releases. I can do any kind of art expect make music. Even the art I have not tried yet, I know that I can do it. I am most proud of my attention to detail. I want potential clients to know that I work very hard and I will deliver
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A story from my journey that illustrates my resilience would be networking in the art space. I went to my first art show and decided then and there I would go on to do shows. Ever since I have been active in some art shows. I feel like this is resilience because of how hard it was to want to speak to people. Everyone is good at what they do, and I was not even plugged into the scene. I had realized I make my own destiny.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The only thing that really drives me is wanting to create every day for a living. I would love to be a full time creative. I know this is what I was put here to do. I have to fully commit to it and really lock in. I keep stumbling because I get in my own way. I need to get out of my own head and just create. My advice for all creatives is do not wait for inspiration, just get out there and do it.
