Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Qway Sharp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Qway, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope that I’m building a legacy that represents what life can look like when you focus on purpose and alignment, whatever that looks like to you. Making correct, not just fast decisions. Being patient and resilient. To have is to give, so my dream is to be that vessel to help others build their own legacies. I want to be remembered for being a leader, hard-worker, and a good person. That shoulder for others to lean on.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Qway, a photographer and the owner of Sharp Studios. My passion lies in creating timeless, high-quality images that make everyday people look and feel their best. Whether I’m behind the camera or welcoming other creatives into my studio space, my mission is to provide an experience that feels professional, comfortable, and fun. Opening Sharp Studios in January, my studio isn’t just a place to shoot, but rather a space designed to help others turn their visions in to visuals. I’m dedicated to making photography accessible and easy, and want every client and collaborator to feel like they’re part of something special when they work with me.

How did you build your audience on social media?
My social media presence overall was a slow burn. I initially thought growing on social media was just about posting my work and hoping people found me. So for a while, it was all organic—I wasn’t running ads or being super intentional. But then I realized if I wanted to really grow and expand my business, I had to get more consistent with my content and start showing up regularly. Once I did that, things really started to shift. Then I started running ads that were targeted toward the type of people I wanted to work with, and that’s definitely helped contribute to my success. It wasn’t overnight because nothing is, but being consistent, creating with purpose, and learning how to reach the right audience has made a whole the difference.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Earlier in my journey, I had a really strong interest in videography. I wanted to create music videos alongside my photography, like the best of both worlds. But over time, I realized that dividing time to learn two things at once wasn’t really allowing me the chance to fully develop either craft. So I figured in order for me to truly excel and create the way I wanted to it’d be better to focus on mastering one thing at a time. That’s when I made the decision to pivot and dedicate myself fully to photography. Since then I’ve been able to learn how to create and deliver a higher-quality photos/experiences for my clients, and build a stronger, more focused brand. Sometimes its better to be the master at one thing, rather than just okay or good at multiple.
