We caught up with the brilliant and insightful SAMIRA MAHARAJ a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

SAMIRA, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

My entire business journey has been through a process of self discovery. It began back in 2012 when I had my first ever spiritual awakening. Unlike the journeys I now guide my clients through, my origin story was not so pretty. Experiencing the loss of my partner at the time was a heavy experience that pretty much opened my third eye through the shock of finding out. Although this was a horrific time for me, I was simultaneously having very beautiful experiences as my psychic gifts began to activate in ways I had never felt before.

From there I started to investigate all things spiritual, metaphysical and supernatural in practical ways. I began with booking my first ever Reiki session, which was not very popular at the time and left feelings super upset. I was living with Mississauga at the time and drove all the way downtown for this session, only to fall asleep and leave with absolutely no insight as to what had happened. I was infuriated about it only to end up becoming a Reiki Master myself a few years later. The same thing kind of happened to me when it came to my shamanic facilitator journey. It seems that life has a tendency to catapult me into experiences that ignite a passion is me to protect people from having the same traumatic experiences as me. Spiritual awakenings are a delicate time for everyone and there’s no telling how long it will take or how intense one person may experience an awakening in comparison to another. A huge part of my business is rooted creating safe containers for people to feel seen, heard and understood no matter where they are in their process. I used to say I didn’t choose this path and that it chose me, but I’ve come to learn that I did in fact choose this path every single day since the day of my awakening. In doing so it has naturally evolved, connecting me with clients all over the world and offering me new teachings every single day.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I got the name the Goddess of Miracles from a vision I received in a meditation which I remember like it was yesterday. I was sitting outside under the sun and I saw a vision of this beautiful winged goddess who reached out to hug me. She was so bright I could hardly see her face but the resemblance I recognized immediately was to the ancient Egyptian goddess Isis. In that moment I felt a rush a gentle love expand through me, it was like the first time in my life I had ever felt true compassion and it left an imprint on me.

After this day I found that I wasn’t just doing Reiki anymore, I was able to do some very deep soul work on the individual in front of me. I’d like to think the safer a person feels, the deeper the session can go and so in that way each session with me is unique. Depending on what is needed I use different modalities that I have learned over the last decade. Some of these modalities include: energy/reiki healing, cord cutting, psychic mediumship, plant medicines, sound therapies, and aroma therapies. In treating each person I work with as a unique individual with an unfolding story of their own, I have been able to tap into different timelines to predict the future or recall events from past timelines. This as well as receiving clairvoyant messages from passed on loved ones or spiritual guides which are unique to each person.

I like to tell my clients that I’m on the journey with them. As I am a teacher, I am also a student of life. I believe every person I’m meant to work with finds me at the right time, in the right place and for the right reasons. There are certain things I know only I can do for people, but I am also not meant to work with everyone. With an open heart and curious mind I continue to invite all who are meant to align with me as an energy healer, shamaness or psychic medium.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

As an entrepreneur in a very niche market I have seen some serious financial lows. In those moments I absolutely had to supplement my income with part-time jobs and freelance gigs along the way. For years I have operated this way because I couldn’t allow my business to become my side hustle ever. I put my passion at the center of my life and I continued to find ways to keep the fire burning even on some seriously rainy days. I’d like to think that these lows tested my faith in myself and my ability to find solutions in my business. A lot of what it takes to operate from that space comes from fighting the battles despite what life throws at you and because my business is service based I knew it was always bigger than me in any given moment.
Advice that I offer to any service based industry in to be prepared to grow when you’re called to which will require change, but never lose sight of why you chose to do what you do. This will help you come back to the point in those moments where you just want to give up and trust me when I say, everyone has them. My resilience become stronger as my why became more solidified.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

From the very beginning of my journey I promised myself that I would find my own way no matter what. Due to this promise I have remained my authentic self every step of the way. I do not do things like anyone else and that’s why there is no one like me. I have a stubborn nature inherently hence the resilience and one thing I take a lot of pride in is being unique. I’ve allowed my community to see me in my lows and in my highs very authentically, but one things that’s remained consistent is that I will always show up. I have many clients that I’ve retained for years and they stay with me because they know they’re safe in my hands when they need me. I keep my karma pretty clean and handle my business relationship with as much grace as I can. So I think for this reason people continue to trust me and my character, it was definitely not something I built over night for myself though. It took some time of deepening my trust in myself for me to really see others begin to feel the same way about me.
